I've been a daddy's girl since day one. I know dads aren't always a privilege, and sometimes I'm guilty of taking his presence in my life for granted. So dad thank you for everything but here are a few things that can't go unsaid.
1. Thank you for loving me when I'm a mess at any time of day.
No one is perfect and I see so many flaws in myself, but you pick me up and remind me I'm a gift from God. Dad's see something in use that we don't see in ourselves. I treasure when I come home from school to a powder pink bouquet of flowers.
2. Thank you for annoying me in middle school when it was totally uncool to love your parents.
Yes, we are all guilty of being too cool for dad. Thank you, Dad, for pulling me closer when I pushed away. I am so glad you acted like a goober around my friends because now it's kinda funny.
3. Thank you for picking up the pieces of my heart when that stupid boy broke up with me.
Thank you, Dad, for leaving work to bring me ice cream and just hold me. Thanks for the famous "I'll kick his butt" phrase. All though it was embarrassing at the time, I'm glad you scared that boy with your firm handshake and grin. I'm sure my boyfriend did not like it but l really appreciate it.
4. Thank you for being Mr. Mom sometimes.
Thank you for trying to 'braid' my hair before softball practice when I was six. Thanks for being the cool Dad surrounded by moms at Monday night dance class. Thank you for brushing my hair, making my lunch and cleaning my room. Although Mom had to show you how to do some of these things, you did it happily with a smile.
5. Thank you for being you.
Sometimes you can't understand why I'm having a bad hair day or why my shoes don't match my dress. But you don't complain you listen because you care, even if its while your laughing. Thank you for letting me choose the restaurant when we go on dates and for letting me pick the movie. You do these things not because you want to but because you will do almost anything to see me smile.
So thank you, Dad, for loving me unconditionally and being the best Dad a girl could ever ask for.
