5 Things I Can't Wait To Get Back To At Quinnipiac

Don't get me wrong, I love my hometown, but I can't wait to go back.

I live in a very small town. We boast roughly 3500 people, three pizza places, the only grocery store within half an hour in any direction, and at least four major dairy farms. Now, don't get me wrong, I love my hometown, but coming home for break after spending three months just minutes from New Haven has become a bit of a culture shock. With break coming to a close, here's five things I can't wait to get back to at QU.

1. The food

I know, I know, I'm going to regret missing this one in a few weeks. Chartwells food isn't great, but at least we don't have to cook it ourselves. As much as I sometimes wish my dorm had a kitchen, I'm grateful for all the options that I have to eat through Chartwells and the kitchen that I don't have to clean up later. (Side note: make sure to thank the Chartwells employees. They do a lot for us!)

2. The games

I'm a member of the pep band, which means I go to every home basketball and hockey game. However, Spring Semester is also when we get to travel for tournaments!

3. The campus

The campus was the thing that made my decision to go to Quinnipiac. No matter what time of year, it's absolutely stunning. Although there was a little snow when we moved out at the end of Fall Semester, there's roughly a foot of it now and it's mostly untouched.

4. Classes

Call me a nerd, but I can't wait for my new classes to start. Not only am I excited for the classes that I'm taking this semester, but I'm also bored at home. I don't have a job at home, so I spend the entire day at home watching my dogs. It's great, but it's also super boring. I'm ready to get back to the hustle and bustle at QU.

5. The people

I can't wait to get back and see all my friends again (with the exception of a certain someone that went to Ireland). It's been far too long!

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
