It's one of the first few days of Spring Break and I'm already annoyed with all of the adventurous Snapchat stories I'm seeing. As much as I would've loved to go snorkeling in Hawaii, cruising in Cancun, or traveling anywhere for that matter, I'm a broke college student. I can barely afford to buy myself some lunch. However, I know I'm not the only one. Most of my fellow college students know the struggle. So, if you're like me and have no plans for Spring Break, here's a few cheap ideas to occupy your time.
1. Netflix Binge-Watching
You probably already do this on a semi-weekly basis, but it's a good time-waster if you don't have anything else to do. Find a show you might like (or one you might have already seen) and grab some snacks, you're gonna be in bed for awhile.
2. Beach Day
If you can scrounge up a few dollars for gas and have a few friends that want to enjoy the sun for a day, head to your closest beach! Parking is pretty cheap and you can bring snacks from home. If you don't live close to a beach, then maybe a pretty slideshow on your computer will do. I did say these were "cheap" ideas, right?
3. Camping
While most people will be surfing some waves or laying out to tan over Spring Break, camping is always a fun option. Find a few friends, pack a bag or two, and head to a cool nature spot. You could even just sleep in your car if you can't find a tent. Just make sure to hide your food from raccoons.
4. Animal Therapy
If you need some animal interaction, there are plenty of options for you. Find a pet store or local animal shelter that you can visit. Even if it's just for an hour or so, interactions with animals can really brighten your day if you're sad that you don't have a drink in your hand on the shores of Honolulu.
5. Homework (really?)
Who would want to do schoolwork over Spring Break? Nobody. However, if you have absolutely nothing else left to do, you could get a head start on work that's due when you start back.
These might not be some of the most fun ideas for Spring Break, but hey, you're balling on a budget. I'll be spending my break at home, watching TV, and playing with my dog. I mean, who wants to be in a different country having the time of their lives? Not me... *starts crying.*
I hope everyone has a fun and safe Spring Break!
