As the summer begins to wind down for college students everywhere, this mostly relaxing time off seems to become hectic in a matter of moments. For the college newbies, they become overwhelmed as they enter the crunch-time weeks to check every item off their list that they need to make their dorm the best one on the block. For the college sophomores and juniors, it's not supposed to be a hectic time, as by now they know what to expect with a new year. As for the seniors, the anticipation of walking across the stage has already began brewing and is in full effect. Regardless of where you find yourself in these last few weeks of summer, there are five things that we all should do before loading up the car and heading back to campus.
1. Sleep, sleep, sleep
Now is the time to try and squeeze in as many naps as possible. It won't be long before you find yourself back in the routine of a sleep-deprived college student who is solely running on coffee and luck as you fall into your 8:00 a.m. So enjoy the rest that you can get, because there are all-nighters filled with endless papers and homework that already have your name on it.
2. Enjoy the food
Take the time to enjoy and savor those home-cooked meals that mom has slaved over all day because, before you know it, you will be back to alternating between pizza and sandwiches in the dinning hall trying to remember the last time you actually enjoyed what you were eating.
3. Save that money!
This one goes without much explanation, because not are only are we sleep deprived college students, but we are broke sleep deprived college students (you new freshman will learn this one quickly).
4. Take that last-minute adventure
If you find that, like many, you spent most of your summer "adulting" aka working, take the time to do something fun. Even if it's just a day trip to the beach with friends or a night time adventure in the park, trust me, you won't regret taking a little time off to enjoy your summer before heading back.
5. Spend time with your home friends
Time is moving fast and it may even feel like the space between you and your home friends is growing bigger with each day. Take the time to do something fun just like the old days to remind you just why they truly are the best. You may be growing in different directions, but you are all growing from an original point.
