5 Steps To Living Life With A Pocket Full Of Sunshine

As another day in the life of a caffeine-addicted social media ranting young-adult goes by, it’s almost impossible to stop and smell the roses. Whether your starting a new school, a new job, or a new phase in life, life comes at you fast and we rarely take the time to appreciate those little moments that make life so sweet. It was in the midst of a third cup of coffee that I noticed the vase of flowers on the counter and a soft moment of peace ran through me. Such a gorgeous arrangement of natures’ sweetest gift was staring back at me reminding how beautiful things remain to be regardless of how ugly the world can be. It was at that small, but significant moment I realized how the “finer things in life” are usually the smallest. It was then I began my quest for a wild flower, soulful music, and delectable tasting food enriched life.

1. Trade that hour of Netflix for an hour of Nature

Too often I find myself using my free time in the arms of my comforter with my trusty sidekick- my laptop. The relief of that first head plunge in to my pillow is almost romantic even. However, in those thoughtless moments of relaxation I tend to forget the beautiful world around me that’s just waiting to be explored. I’ve realized that the ultimate stress relief can be found with a big breath of fresh air, and it’s never far away! Taking the time to explore your local park, hiking trails, or even botanical garden can add a little appreciation to your day

2. Find art in your life, and love it

It’s so easy to walk past the little street arts and even funky street fashions without giving two glances. I’ve noticed the more I take time to appreciate the beautiful things found in creativity have helped me want to explore my creativity myself. A few extra moments spent admiring a beautiful mural has definitely done me more benefit then those few moments wasted on my phone. The world is as beautiful as we take the time to make it!

3. Make fast food your last food

Love your taste buds!!! Don’t waste your time, energy, or money on an industry that prides itself in the quick dull aspects of eating. Find your local café or even ethnic restaurants and explore what the culinary world as to offer! Life is too short to waste it on the quick 5-minute burger, seize the opportunity to make time eating, time well spent. I’ve found that letting myself enjoy what’s on my plate has significantly improved my days!

4. Stop and smell the roses

Not too long ago I was on my way back to school after a long weekend spent at home and was immediately overwhelmed by the beauty of Texas wild flower season! Miles and miles were painted red, orange and gold to what seemed would last forever. I noticed families in the midst of those flowers trying to capture every sweet moment and couldn’t help my self from pulling over and doing the same. The beauty of flowers and the gift they are to a drive home or a holiday are never something that should go unnoticed.

5. Look good feel good

We all know the horrors of waking up those 15 minutes early for that little extra time spent in the mirror. However, looking good doesn’t always mean more makeup or perfect hair. To me looking good means wearing that pair of shorts that fits just right, washing your face and tying up your hair in a way that flatters your frame. The confidence in your appearance helps so much in your confidence in everyday life. Walk a little straighter, and smile a little brighter! Its contagious!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
