Five Stages Of Reuniting With Your College Best Friends

You know the number of countdown days by heart.

Five Stages Of Reuniting With Your College Best Friends

Alas, August has finally arrived and the summer is beginning to wind down. These past few months have most likely been filled with lazy beach days and some much needed R&R with your home friends (as well as several long, boring work days). As the month of August draws on and the first day of classes draws near, you have to start organizing your dorm room packing list and thinking of your upcoming course load. However, if you're like I am, the moment you're most excited about with your return to campus is reuniting with your college best friends.

These are the people you have lived with, eaten with, gone to class with and gone out with for the past year and being separated for even a few months is just too much. They know everything about you, and they get you. For this reason, you can't wait to be back on your old stomping grounds having fun and wreaking havoc with the people you know best.

The following stages of excitement are sure to fill your last few days leading up to the big reunion.

1. Constant communication.

Your communal group message is constantly being used to talk about anything from what classes to register for to what outfit to wear to dinner that night, and your daily Snapchats have reached the I'm-being-ugly-on-purpose level. With distance separating all of you, you have turned to social media and text messages to keep each other in the loop of the daily ongoings of your lives.

2. Active planning.

With the upcoming reunion, you and your best friends are inevitably planning activities for every possible moment starting from when you all step foot on campus. Whether these plans actually pan out or not, it's exciting to imagine the sweet possibilities this year holds when you are back together again.

3. Depressed waiting.

It has reached that time of the summer. Your home friends are beginning to return to their respective universities, leaving you stranded and friendless. You're all alone, and all you want is to be back on campus, basking in freedom and friendship.

4. Nostalgic reminiscing.

As the final days of summer countdown begins, you start to reminisce about all the amazing times you and your college friends have had over the past year — from the rough nights out (now very entertaining to talk about) to the communal exam stress-outs. These great memories give you a solid hope that this year will have even more fun in store.

5. Total excitement overload.

The big day has finally arrived. The boxes are unpacked from the car into your dorm room and you have said your goodbyes to your friends and family. At long last, you and your college besties are reunited (and yes, it feels so good). You all most likely cause a minor scene, complete with high-pitched screams, jumping and obnoxious hugs. This reunion is only the start to a great college year to come with some of the best people by your side.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
