Over the last few months, I've become pretty addicted to podcasts. I put them on when I'm driving, cleaning, crafting, or even in the shower. I've even spent money to see my favorite podcast live, and to meet the stars.
To me there is no such thing as silence anymore, because a podcast is always on to keep me company. There are a couple categories of podcasts though I refuse to listen to alone; and those are the true crime podcasts, or the ones featuring stories that make my skin crawl. The good thing about them though are that they get you ready for Halloween. They get you right into that spooky spirit. If you're like me and won't even step foot into a haunted house, and you're annoyed with yourself because you love Halloween, then listening to one of these podcasts is what you've been looking for to fill that hole in your life.
1. The Black Tapes
Follow Alex Reagan, a reporter, throughout her quest to find the truth behind Richard Strand's "Black Tapes". Be prepared to not be able to sleep, because shadow men with long fingers, tapping noises on your door, and women with upside down faces, are going to haunt your dreams.
"Do you believe?"

2. Lore
Lore features the voice of Aaron Mahnke telling stories from the past. Mahnke's spooky voice will frighten, and sometimes calm you, with tales anywhere from haunted lighthouses to even vampires. The podcast is also going to be an upcoming TV show!
"Because sometimes the truth is more frightening than fiction."
Category: History, Non-Fiction
3. My Favorite Murder
This one features the hilarious commentary by Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark. I know. Murder and hilarious in the same sentence? These are two funny women with a love for true crime. Each week both of them come with a story from their long lists of murders they find interesting.
"Check your anxiety at the door, cause Karen and Georgia are dying to discuss death."
Category: Comedy, Non-Fiction
4. CaseFile
Casefile is a podcast all about those true crime stories that scare us into staying inside our house. A man with a thick, Australian, accent tells us stories of murders and abductions, or plays audio from a murder trial and talks you though it. Casefile will make you run from your car to your front door.
"Fact is scarier than fiction."
Category: History, Non-Fiction
5. Serial
Sarah Koenig wants to find out the truth. Now i'll tell you ahead of time that the second season of this podcast won't give you the chills, but the second one definetly will. Season one tells the story of a young man by the name of Adnan Syed that was arrested for the 1999 murder of his ex-girlfriend, Hae Min Lee. But did he do it? There's a "Making a Murderer" feel to it and you won't be able to stop listening.
"Sarah won't know what happens at the end of the story until she gets there, not long before you get there with her."
