It's summertime! Finals are done and you are excited to go on a road trip with your friends or spend a day at the beach. There is always that "Song of the Summer." From 2013's "Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke, 2014's "Fancy" by Iggy Azalea and 2015's "Cheerleader" by Omi, there is always a song that stays at the top of the charts all summer. With some help from Billboard and Itunes, here are some songs that you might want to add to your summer playlist. They might just be that next summer hit!
"Work from Home:" Fifth Harmony ft Ty Dolla $ign
This song is currently number six on Billboards Hot 100 and is steadily climbing. It is a catchy song. I catch myself listening to it everytime it comes on the radio and I skip over songs to find it on my Spotify playlists.
"Cake by the Ocean:" DNCE
DNCE's first single. This song has been on the Billboard charts for the past 27 weeks. It still is getting as many plays on the radio as when it first came out. Besides, we get to relive our JoBro crushes from middle school since Joe Jonas is the lead singer.
"America's Sweetheart:" Elle King
Not currently on Billboard's hot 100, but this song is currently getting radio plays. This was Elle King's follow up single to "Ex's and Oh's." With it's folk and pop feel it is a catchy song and is sure to get stuck in your head.
"New Romantics:" Taylor Swift
While not high on Billboard's Hot 100, New Romantics is another catchy Taylor Swift song. It currently sits in the 48th spot, but this song is sure to climb. The last line of the chorus is, "The best people in life are free." So, grab your best friends and dance the night away!
"Don't Let Me Down:" The Chainsmokers ft. Daya
Currently sitting in the 14th spot on Billboard's hot 100, it is slowly climbing it's way to the top. It is a great song to dance to. It's a must have on your summer playlist.
These are just five songs that should be on your summer playlist. It is only May, the big song of the summer might not even be released yet. Keep your ears open, and you will find it. Have a great summer and enjoy the music.
