Though I may never be the next biggest hit in the musical world, I am like many others when they say that a certain song could be the soundtrack of their lives. Music speaks to us when all else fails in the world. I can hear a great dance song and shamelessly pull out those killer dance moves that you never knew I had, but when a song touches me deep down in my soul, I will close the door to my bedroom and let the music envelope my otherwise silent space. Poetry and other forms of writing have always been an escape from my everyday problems, yet when I can't seem to find the right words to say, I let the music do the work for me. These songs have been doing an amazing job so far!:

1. "Crash and Burn"- Thomas Rhett

If ever there was a song to accurately explain what dating is like for me, then this would be it! I remember sitting in my bedroom around this time last year listening to this song on repeat for a good hour. In real life, Thomas Rhett is happily married to his wife Lauren, but he is apparently a hot mess when it comes to relationships in this music video. You don't really know exactly what Thomas has done to infuriate his now ex-girlfriend, but from one occasionally lonely single to another, I know the feeling! Like Thomas, there are many times where I have questioned what I was doing that was not deemed likable by the guys that I was crushing on; however, after many recent incidents with the opposite sex and some self-reflection, I realized that you just have to do the best you can in order to be your genuine self. If no one likes it, well, sucks to be them! Your broken heart will mend, Thomas!

2. "Bacon"- Nick Jonas

Not only is Nick Jonas now my favorite Jo-Bro (sorry Joe!), but this song does more than make me want to go to IHOP (because what would be better with bacon than pancakes or eggs)! The upbeat tune is the best post-break-up sound to keep your tears at bay and celebrate how you got out while you still could. Dodged a bullet on that one, am I right? While of course I can't speak as to what it's like breaking up with someone, seeing as I have never been in an actual relationship, I've still had to deal with many nasty guys in the past who like to send me into an analyzing frenzy trying to guess what their intentions are. That in itself comes pretty close. This song sets my mind at ease knowing that I deserve much better than these men could ever offer in a relationship. Aww, s**t, now throw some bacon on that!!

3. "Confident"- Demi Lovato

Let's all acknowledge the true queen this year and last: Demi Lovato! Demi has been knocking it out of the park with all of her most recent songs and this one is no exception. I love how Demi is proud of who she is and how she looks, but she is never the type to flaunt it or put others down in order to make herself feel better. This song is an anthem for women everywhere that we can make our dreams a realty, all while looking hot doing it!

4. "Kill 'Em With Kindness"- Selena Gomez

You're probably starting to see a pattern forming, and yes, I have to acknowledge another female crushing it in the music industry. I have grown up with Selena ever since she was on the Disney Channel show "Wizards of Waverly Place." You can say that she was one of my idols then and I still am inspired by her to this day. I recently saw her in concert when the Revival Tour made a stop at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and she was as amazing as she's ever been. Even my dad (don't judge) was humming along to her songs. "Kill 'Em With Kindness" is another anthem that our generation should take note of considering all that has been happening in the world lately, The devastation that gun violence has left in its wake is tragic, although the wounds that we inflict on each other with our prejudices are nearly just as bad.

5. "Focus"- Ariana Grande

Think of this as your comeback to all of those haters. You don't have to bad mouth anyone to do this. Most of us may not have pipes that have earned us the nickname of "mini Mariah," but that doesn't mean that we don't have one talent that we bring to the world like no one else can. I'd like to think that my writing is earning me some recognition right now. You could be a future model, run the next global empire or even just be the best cashier at your store. Own what you do best and don't let anyone tell you differently. And one word of advice: if a guy ever tries to diminish how awesome and talented you are, rip off those heels and run like the wind! WE don't have time for that!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
