I know, you don't want to talk about your love life, grades, after college plans, or, honestly, really anything aside from dogs and football on Thanksgiving (and even then your team has lost for the past 3 weeks, so maybe football is even off the table).

Gold by Kiiara

Look some people have said that this song is awful. I’ll reason with you, maybe after a while it could eventually get annoying. It hasn’t yet. I’m still listening to it all the time, mostly with my friends while we're jumping around our living room. Kiiara was just signed by Atlantic and her EP should be coming out soon-ish.

Perfect for: “Yes, my semester is going great. I’ve been doing a lot of field research on craft beer and whiskey.”

REALiTi by Grimes

Hey, this is the kind of song that somehow strikes a really incredible balance between makes you want to dance and let’s just sit and listen. Grimes produces all of her own music and let’s give her some props for that. This song was originally released in March, but then (despite what she wrote in the description of the video) made it’s way onto Art Angels, Grimes’ fourth album which came out on the 6th of November. Also, this is the kind of album where you like each song so much you just end up listening to the whole thing on repeat forever because she put them in such a great order and they're so great and this album is so great.

Perfect for: “Look, I know you’re only in second grade but just because you know what you want to be when you grow up doesn’t mean I do. We can’t all be perfect, ok? Sometimes we just have to accept we don’t know what we want for the future and be ok with that. One day you’ll get it.”

Hidden by Worries

Meet Alex from Surrey. He makes music. There’s something really nice about this song. It’s super dreamy but also kind of 80s which I love.

Perfect for: “Yeah, I have a great social life and I hang out with my friends on the weekend all the time. No, no, I don’t lay on the floor of my room on friday nights and stare up at my ceiling, why would I do that?”

Help Me On My Way by Ardyn

Twins from Gloucestershire, Ardyn is doing some cool stuff. Their debut EP came out earlier this month and they’re working with Rodaidh McDonald, whose resume includes the likes of The XX and King Krule. Their music is reminiscent of Sylvan Esso at times but also sometimes a little bit punchier.

Perfect for: “I just love networking”

Empty Threat by CHVRCHES

If you know me, you probably know how much I love CHVRCHES. I mean come on, Lauren Mayberry has a law degree and a journalism degree, and then said "ehh, I want to make music." And she did. And it's great. Empty Threat is off their album that came out in September, but the music video is new, and pretty great.

Perfect for: "I'm thinking about driving back to school on Saturday morning" (This is when you get in your car and leave.)

Just kidding family is great, just like, please stop asking me what I'm planning on doing with my major and where I want to live next year. Trust me, I don't know.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
