So this one time, my family and I were on a motor boat on a lake and we stopped on an island to hike. Then an incredible thunderstorm came our way, so we got back on the boat and quickly made our way back to the dock. However, we did not beat the storm and a heck of a lot happened in between leaving the island and getting back to the house and it was not even that far. So if you ever find yourself in situations like the five I will describe, consider trying these strategies that we tried to get out of the situations on a tiny boat in a huge storm.
Materials Needed: Canoes and boogie boards
Situation Number 1: On an island and storm clouds come
Strategy: Get back on boat and try to beat the storm back to your boat dock.
Situation Number 2: When you do not beat the storm back to boat dock and you are in the middle of the lake on your boat with zero visibility.
Strategy: Attempt to bring the boat to the nearest shore and hide under a random stranger's canoe.
Situation Number 3: When you think there is clearing and time to get back on boat, so you leave safety of canoes and continue to navigate the boat back, but then a blanket of hail starts to pour down on you in the middle of the lake.
Strategy: Use the boogie boards you have on the boat to shield you from the hail.
Situation Number 4: Clears enough to get back to boat dock.
Strategy: Speed as fast as you possibly can before it starts up again because you know the storm is chasing you.
Situation Number 5: When you finally see the boat dock and the beach next to it looks as golden as ever.
Strategy: Get boat out of water as fast as possible because the storm is probably still chasing you and rush back to house to tell people about your epic experience, who will not even know a severe thunderstorm had just happened.
