The adjustment to college can be challenging for many, often having to leave the comfort of their friends and family for a new, and sometimes intimidating place. Whether or not you choose your roommates or you meet them for the first time on move in day, roommates have the power to make or break your college experience. Unfortunately, some people don't click with their roommates, but this isn't always the end of the world; there is still plenty of opportunities for new friends! You don't have to best friends with your roommate. For those of you who do love your roommates, you may have met some of your best friends, or even your future bridesmaids.
These are just a few ways to know you've found a best friend in your roommate(s):
1. They comfort you during your weekly mental breakdowns.
It's no surprise to anyone that college can be extremely stressful. Roommates who can understand, sympathize and even comfort you, make even the most stressful of days that much better.
2. They listen to you vent over and over again with no complaints.
When it comes to boys, overwhelming classes, or that girl in your classes you just can't stand, we all need to vent from time to time. The best of roommates let you vent, even if they've already heard it a million times.
3. They are your built in "plus one".
Don't want to eat by yourself? Bring your roommate. Don't want to go out alone? Bring your roommate. No matter where you go, you always have at least one partner in crime.
4. They'll always give you honest advice.
They always have your best interest in mind, so they'll never lie to you. Whether you're having boy issues or just can't figure out what to wear, you can always count on your roommate to give your their most honest opinion.
5. Finally, you miss them the second you leave each other.
Regardless if it is for two hours or even for a long weekend, the second you separate, you miss each other like crazy. Not to mention, your reunions always call for a celebration!
