11 Unmistakable Signs You Were A 'Band Kid'

We all know at least one person that was in marching band in high school, or you may be one yourself. For me I was a band kid and a majority of my friends were or still are. Here are 11 signs that just show how much of a band kid you really are.

1. You start each step with your left foot.

Ok so to me this is like the major tell-tale sign that you are/were a band kid. A true band member knows that you always start marching with your left foot. I 9 times out of 10 begin my daily walking with my left foot. If you're off step it just is bad band etiquette.

2. You call out out of step band members

If you deny that you do this, you're lying to yourself. You're at your high school's football game watching the band at half time, then you see a band member out of step. You immediately say something to the person beside you no matter who it is, and you might even say something to the kid out of step. I would...you don't won't them to do it again and disgrace your alma mater.

3. You direct any genre of music whether band or not

If you were a drum major you especially know what I'm talking about. We here a song and realize it's in 4/4 and just go ahead with the hands.

4. You only go to the game for the band

Alright every once in a while we go for the football, but come on, we all know band is the real show. I mean after all it is called "the halftime show" not the football show.

5. You still hang out with your band friends

One of my best friends is still in high school marching band and I'm going into my second year of college. Without band we would've never became friends and I thank band for our friendship. We still hang out to this day and you know you love your band fam.

6. The "one time at band camp" joke is not really funny

Ya know some of band kids stories will start off with "this one time at band camp" and its an actual story. Band is not only* full of hormonal teens like the movies depict.

7. You can spot an upset/angry band director from miles away

You see that certain look on a director's face and just know he's pretty mad. You know? The look of raised eyebrows, red face, and sometimes a frown. That look. Or at least my band director(s) had that.

8. Your playlists have old band music on them

Your director gives you the show music and automatically you download the songs, well at least a lot of my band did-including me. I still have Proud Mary by Ike and Tina Turner on my phone from like five years ago.

9. You always keep the beat & tap your foot to any song

In church, a concert, in your private jam sessions, wherever you are, you probably tap your foot to the music.

10. "Early is on time, on time is late, and late is not acceptable"

This was one of the first things my last band director told the band when he first came to my school. It's actually one of the best things to live by because lateness is bad and you will get called out for it.

11. And finally... you're still a band kid at heart

No matter where life takes you, you will always be a band kid. It helps mohave friends in college that are in band because you still feel even more connected.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
