During quarantine time, a lot of us film majors all had one few thoughts in mind. How we are all going to survive without movie theatres being open. It also presented an opportunity for us. To catch up on some movies we've always wanted to watch but haven't had the time to. However, this Coronavirus has myself and several others completely stressed out and maybe we don't need a movie to remind us of our troubles. These are a few shows you can watch and you don't have to think about that will get your mind off of things for a while.
1. i Carly
Most everyone reading a Missouri State Odyssey article remembers iCarly. It's a staple in a lot of our childhoods. Last year I rediscovered the show one day because I needed something on the TV while I studied that didn't demand a lot of attention. The show held up a lot more then I was anticipating and it got quite a few laughs from me. It's mindless stupid humor at its best and a nostalgic look at the 2000's, a much simpler time for most of us.
2. Impractical Jokers
I did a whole episode on Impractical Jokers so I'll keep this short. This show is almost always playing on Tru TV and its just four buddies daring each other to do stupid things. It's just such a fun time to see the ridiculous antics of these jokers.
3. LEGO Master Builders
This is a gameshow currently on Fox right after The Masked Singer (which I hate with a burning passion). I don't care about American Idol or The Bachelor or anything like that- but man I'm invested in LEGO Master Builders. I get that this show gets really hokey sometimes but the builds are amazing and the teams are so likable.
4. Encore
This show is on Disney Plus right now and it's a reality show about people coming back to preform an Encore of a show they did in High School. I was a theatre kid in High School so this show always makes me happy and remember really good memories. This show is as sappy and sentimental as you can get and you know what, I need a little bit (or a lot of bit) of sentimentality right now.
5. The Goldbergs
This show is a sitcom that has been playing on ABC for years now and it's just delightful. Each episode hits the exact same beats but you know what, I kinda love it. You always know what you are gonna get with this show. You'll get a few laughs and a few moments that will warm your heart. You will also get some great 80's movie references and I will just be real here, I relate too much to Adam Goldberg and his aspirations to be a filmmaker.
