It's 2016 and the days of missing our favorite Television programs have left us. Between Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime we have access to a wealth of television shows, movies, and documentaries at the touch or click of a button. As a twenty-something college student I have found that in my free time I enjoy being able to fully immerse myself in these TV shows. Here are the top five shows I believe anyone can come to love:
Grey's Anatomy
Shonda Rhimes is a genius. Not only does she have the ability to make me laugh and cry at the same time all while freaking out but she can do it in multiple settings at once. Meredith Grey is by far America's favorite doctor. She's beautiful, strong, independent, and level headed and she's a freaking amazing mother. I believe that if there is any series worth watching 12 season of it's this one. Grey's has an unbelievable track record and the ratings haven't faltered once in the eleven years that it's aired. If you want to be pulled in episode after episode, season after season Grey's Anatomy is where it's at. Presently every episode ever made can be found on Netflix, so hop to it.
The 100
Jason Rothenberg crafted The 100 based loosely on a book series by Kass Morgan. From strong female leads to extreme situations this series about our post-apocalyptic Earth is everything you want and need in a show. Romance, action, drama, and characters that will make you fall in love with everything about them. This show is extremely easy to watch and has easily become one of the most believable SciFi series on TV right now. Seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on Netflix and I promise you will not regret experiencing it.
The Mindy Project
For a Hulu original this show is great. If you enjoy quick, witty, and awkward humor then The Mindy Project is your show. With four seasons on Hulu updated almost weekly you can never run out of episodes to watch. Mindy helps me to embrace all of the awkward parts about who I am all while being a kick-ass doctor. She's funny, awkward, and everything most twenty-somethings can sympathize with. I've laughed myself to tears during this show and I hope it never ever stops.
Parenthood
The Braverman's, oh the Braverman's. Parenthood is hands-down the best family related show in existence. This series deals with a multitude of situations that families go through. By the end of the first episode you feel like a part of the family and as it slowly comes to an end you've experienced their growth. One thing I've learned after spending six incredible seasons with this family is that you can never be too quick to judge and that circumstances are always subject to change. You'll laugh with them and you'll cry with them and if you are anything like me, you'll love deeply with them as well. All six seasons of Parenthood can be watched on Netflix.
One Tree Hill
Tree Hill, North Carolina is an awesome place to be. High school parties, the small-town feel, familiarity. Everybody has a secret and every episode one more truth is brought to light. It's almost as if this show is meant to be a book as I feel like I'm always rushing to turn to the next page. If anything has kept me on my toes it is this series. Although One Tree Hill has been around for around ten years it is still one of the most frequently watched shows. The success of this series alone should be enough of a reason to press play. You can watch every episode of OTH on Netflix.
These five shows have changed my life in more ways than I can count. If you ever find yourself bored or looking for a new series to watch give one of them a shot you never know what you might find yourself interested in. Enjoy!
