Aaron Davis Hall is the theater building of CCNY that hosts the live performances of the actors on campus. Located on 135th Street and Convent Avenue, this venue is home to theater course work. Although the theater educates and comforts thespians, scary places lurk around every corner that will get you in the mood for the Halloween season. Here are the top five scariest rooms in Aaron Davis Hall:
5. The Green Room
This room is a small box located in a stairwell. When you first see the locked door, it seems OK, but when opened, it's a small boxed room. The design looks like the living quarters for someone who may hate socializing. Plus, the additional door in the wall leaves the mind to wonder: Who can come in?
4. Theater A
The space is big and spacious. However, when there are no performances, a ghost light sits up center stage to let staff see their way around. They named the lamp a ghost light because the view from the hallway will scare you even more: All you see from the side are shadows.
3. The Orchestra Pit/Trap Room
The name alone gives you the chills. This room, located under Theater A, holds all the costumes and props that the actors of City College need. When you go in, the air is dry. Dust and moths fill the air, and the hidden room in the back can access the Theater A stage because it's directly under it. All the clothes and props give off a "scary movie deranged serial killer" vibe.
2. The Lighting Floor
Scared of heights? This room will definitely add to your fear. Located over Theater B, lights and bolts are adjacent to the door. All you see are lights and a single door. Once the door is opened, the view gets more intense. All you see is red flooring (width fitting one person at a time) straight ahead. Looking down, you see the audience, the stage, and the lights that dangle above the space. The view reminds you of the cliché dying scene at a movie theater.
1. Theater B
Usually, Theater B opens with a set for a show going on for an intimate audience. Pre-show, all you see is a black space. The space is open, walls and seating camouflaged with the color black (easier to set up for any show). The open abyss leaves room for ghostly ghouls and pranksters to scare random people. The space looks like a walk through haunted house.
