5 Resolutions to Keep in 2017

Everybody says they re going to do things when the new year comes, and let's be honest; people usually don't keep them. While most resolutions come to an end, her are ten resolutions to make, and keep, as the new year rolls in:

1. Stay Motivated.

Staying motivated in every aspect of your life is a good way to start out the year strong! Stay motivated for school, being healthy, and work to have the year fall into place.

2. Be Selfish.

Usually it's good to be selfless, but take this year to be selfish and work on you. Remove negative relationships from your life, and do anything and everything to keep yourself happy this year. Make yourself your number one priority because you are the most important thing in your life. Take care and work on yourself.

3. Work Hard

Working hard will pay off and come with many accomplishments. Make 2017 the year you work the hardest and have the most success. Whether it be in school, work, staying healthy, or anything, work hard to reach your goals.

4. Keep your head up

I think a lot of people took some hard L's in 2016, I know I did. Let 2017 be the year of dubs. And if you do take a L, just shake it off. You got this. Keep striving for a win and keep your head up when you don't. Be optimistic

5. Save Your Money

These days everyone has to have the latest thing to be trendy. Instead of spending your hard earned money on stuff you'll use once, save it. Try by saving at least $5 or $10 a week or more every week until 2018. By the end of the year you'll have some spending money to reward yourself with for having such a great year.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
