5 Reasons You Should Be Watching Jaclyn Hill on YouTube

My makeup tutorial watching obsession started in high school. There’s just something mesmerizing about watching someone completely transforming their look within five minute’s time.

In my makeup tutorial watching endeavors, I’ve come across many different YouTube makeup gurus—women and men alike.

But, one makeup guru I can’t seem to get enough of is Jaclyn Hill. If you are not watching this powerhouse woman on YouTube, you need to and for more reasons than of her amazing knowledge of makeup. If I haven’t convinced you why you should be watching her yet, here are five reasons you need to make Jaclyn Hill part of your weekly rituals.

1. She knows everything there is to know about makeup.

Want to know how to contour, apply fake lashes, get that smoky eye? Look no further!

Jaclyn will walk you through it step-by-step on her YouTube channel! Jaclyn has worked her way up the ladder at Mac Cosmetics, so she’s been professionally trained and knows what she’s talking about!

When you’re stuck for what makeup look to do for your night out, repeat after me: “What would Jaclyn do?”

2. She will give you her honest opinions about products.

Jaclyn will not only tell you how to use makeup products, but she will give you her honest and open opinion about them. She will never agree to be paid to promote a product that she doesn’t like. If she thinks that the mattes in an eye shadow pallet are too chalky, she is not afraid to share it. She will always tell you if a product is worth spending your money on.

3. She talks openly about her life.

If you ask, she will respond. Just watch a variety of her Q&A’s. She opens up about past and current relationships, how she got to where she is and even her trouble with anxiety.

It’s nice to know that someone who has made their way up the ladder in the YouTube world can still relate so well to her viewers. So many of the things she talks about can resonate with so many people. She is an amazing role model.

4. She is not ashamed of her struggles with anxiety.

Anybody with anxiety would be lucky to have someone like Jaclyn to look up to in terms of dealing and overcoming anxiety. Jaclyn talks openly about her low points and give advice on how to get out of those low points.

The amount of progress she has made in battling her anxiety is super inspirational. She takes anxiety head on and beats its butt, but she makes sure that you as the watcher understand that it isn’t all flowers and butterflies all the time. She often explains how she has good days and bad days, but in the end it’s all about the mindset. I really admire her in the way she openly talks about her battle with anxiety.

5. She is looming with confidence.

From the first minute you watch Jaclyn, you can immediately feel the confidence beaming from her. Honestly, I think she is one of the most confident people I’ve come across. She so openly talks about her flaws and doesn’t care what other people think. Her confidence is something that every woman should latch onto and harness.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
