I consider myself a lover of a variety of TV show genres: Game of Thrones (medieval fantasy), Glee (musical comedy-drama), Parks and Recreation (political comedy sitcom), The Office (comedy), and Merlin, a British fantasy-adventure.
Running from 2008 through 2012, this BBC TV series was loosely based on the Arthurian legends of the young Merlin and King Arthur. The show ended, with a somewhat surprising Season 5 finale. It’s been four years since the season finale and I just finished watching show last November (makes me hate myself for not knowing about it until then). I will try my best not to spoil anything so you can be another viewer biting your nails at the show’s climactic moments.
The Cast
Colin Morgan stars as Merlin and Bradley James as King Arthur. Yes, we have Guinevere and Lancelot as well Arthur’s father and the king’s ward, Morgana. Stealing the spotlight would be Eoin Macken, Santiago Cabrera, among other very attractive knights that appear regularly on the show.
“Are you still there?”
Netflix will continually ask you this question because you will keep watching one episode after the other. The episodes build up suspense and then keep you wanting more. Just keep in mind you do have a life outside of Camelot’s world.
Action-Drama-Comedy-Fantasy Package
Action? Yes. Fantasy? Yes. Drama and Comedy? Yes. I made my point.
With every great TV show, comes a great score

I am guilty of being a big fan of movie soundtracks (Pride and Prejudice has the best movie score ever) and Merlin’s smooth, yet dark sound makes the perfect addition to any movie score fanatic’s playlist. Some songs include trumpets and choirs while other include violin solos that bring life to the emotional episodes of the show.
You will learn a couple life lessons
To be honest, the show was just entertainment for me. However, the last episode left me in tears. During the last episode of season 5, I suddenly realized that this show was teaching me a lesson. As I mentioned before, this show tells the story of Merlin and King Arthur. Watching the show enables you see this bromance grow from the many adventures they undergo. Just keep that in mind.
