5 Reasons You Should Get A Dog In College
Askideas.com

Dogs are said to be man's best friend. Here are some reasons why this is true, and why a getting a dog is a great idea.

1. Cuddles

Having a dog entitles you to infinite cuddles. Anytime of the day or night, you can simply pick up your dog and hug his/her warm fluffy body. Feeling lonely at night and need someone to cuddle with? Boom! There's your dog. Feeling cold on a winter's night and need something warm to heat you up? There's your dog. Are you someone who needs to hold a pillow or a doll to sleep at night? There's your dog! Your dog is always there to cuddle with you when you need it most.

2. Social Engagement

If you take your adorable pup for a walk people will approach you. Fact. If you have social anxiety and want to cure it, a dog might be the solution. When you go to the dog park everyone is friendly to you. Everyone there loves dogs and will talk to you about them all day if you give them the chance. Even outside of the dog park- you will end up interacting in a social setting much more frequently. At the beach, at school (if your school allows dogs), around the city, wherever you are, your dog will make conversations starters with new people!

3. Adorable-ness

Oh. my. gosh. Some of us cannot get over how cute dogs are. If you're feeling negative in any way, your dog will cheer you up simply by being cute. You can't even stay mad at your dog for more than a few seconds at a time because you look at their face and just melt. If your pup is near you, how could you possibly be sad?

4. Responsibility

Getting a dog teaches you how to be responsible. It's a long term commitment and it takes a lot of work, especially if you get a puppy. However, it's completely worth it. You learn to be disciplined and strict while teaching your dog how to do tricks and how to properly walk on a leash. Potty training especially teaches you to be meticulous and rigorous, because even one slip up can send you back a few weeks of training. Even though this may seem like a negative, it's actually a positive thing. In life, there are many moments where you need to be responsible, disciplined, and meticulous. Whether it is in your work, school, home life, or otherwise, responsibility is a necessary trait. Getting a dog will quickly teach you this. Think of it as training before you have kids.

5. Companionship

Above all, your dog is your best friend. He's there for you during your worst times and your best times. He will have your back and support you in whatever way you need. Even though he's dependent on you, you're just as dependent on him. He provides you with love and a physical presence to hold and cherish. All in all, getting a dog is a great idea, and something everyone should consider at least once in their lives.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
