So you’ve dated the athletes, the party people, the bookworms and basics all with no luck. Have you ever considered dating an artist? Here are five reasons why your next date should be with an artist!

We are creative.

Artists, whether they be actors, dancers, painters or musicians, are always thinking and creating new things. Creativity also sparks the imagination and our more adventurous side. We will be down to trying new things constantly and will always want to be actively doing something. You will never be bored because we will always have something new up our sleeves. Artists are the kind of people that know of the swanky coffee shops, the hidden trails, and museums that feature art made from toenails.

We are passionate.

Artists are generally passionate people otherwise, they wouldn’t throw their entire being into their work. We tend to focus on what we love so if you date an artist, our attention will be on you (that is, when we aren’t busy creating). Artists tend to know how to express their emotions and what they want so you will never feel like you’re in the dark when you’re in a relationship with an artist.

We are fierce.

Working in the field of our trade is hard so we have to stay determined to get what we want. Competition doesn’t faze us when we got our eyes fixed on a goal. With that, we love hard too and will be in it for the long run if you are. Artists will fight for you and win. That being said, don’t try to pick a fight with us. We don’t tolerate fruity people and can (and will) put someone in their place if it’s necessary.

We are worldly and open-minded.

In our fields of study, we learn about and appreciate other cultures whether it be through dance, theatre or visual art. Because of that, we are also very open-minded and will listen to all sides of a story before coming to a conclusion. We can have in-depth conversations about almost any topic that comes to mind and will always challenge you to think and keep your mind open too.

We are accepting.

it’s common knowledge that the theatre, or any space dedicated to the advancement and production of the arts for that matter, is a safe, non-judgemental place. Date an artist and they will accept you for you and appreciate everything you are and everything you have to offer. We judge people based on their character and the way they treat others and handle situations, not by their looks, brains or social status. Date an artist and you will always feel like you belong and are accepted for who you are because, in reality, you are.

So if this article persuaded you to pursue an artist we’re not hard to find! If you’re looking for us on campus, you can usually find us in the Forbes Center for the Performing Arts, the Music Building or Duke Hall. So drop in. Chances are, you’ll be enchanted by someone ;)

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
