5 Reasons Why You Need To Be A Great Sister

5 Reasons Why You Need To Be A Great Sister

1. They Look Up To You More Than You Know

They are looking to you for how you deal with both the punches and the blessings life throws at you, your attitude toward circumstances and people, and the big decisions you make.

2.They Listen And (sometimes) Take Your Advice

No one has open ears like a big sister. You were raised in the same house they were so naturally you know the standards that they think and act by. You knew them when they were still innocent little kids running around in their batman underpants wearing capes, before the world got a chance to grow them up; you knew their heart. So with that being said, you can give them the advice they need, which may not always be what they want to hear, but you only want the best for them and they know that.

3. Because The Sibling Code Matters

You know what I'm talking about. The unspoken thing when they help you hide your undercover prepaid phone for those three months you were grounded (sorry you had you had to find out like this mom), or when you reluctantly let them crawl into your bed in the middle of the night because they're scared of aliens abducting them through their window, when you have secrets that only each other know, when you both can complain about how weird your parents are and only they can truly get you. Sibling code is something that you can never have with anyone else, not even a best friend, because this thing has been around since birth.

4. When The Going Gets Tough, You're Always There

Whether they need to crash at your place after a break up, roommate troubles, or a disagreement with your parents. Your door is always open, even if you don't agree with their decisions. And that door will probably come with a whole lotta ice cream and wendy's runs.

5. Because Siblings Are Forever

You were there for the childhood days of playing pretend and eating endless amounts of chicken nuggets and chocolate milk (which, true life, I still do now), the awkward middle school stage, the high school and college days when they're trying to find themselves, you're there when they get married, have kids, and raise their families.... and every crazy holiday from then on. You see each others failed and humiliating relationships, super hyper freako moods, weird phases when they wear gators gear from head to toe, and everything in between. Find me a friend that can match up to that.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
