5 Reasons Why I Will Always Love My Sister

She may get on my nerves and I may get on her nerves, but no matter what, I love her.

5 Reasons Why I Will Always Love My Sister

My sister is one of the best friends I've ever had. Sometimes I find myself feeling bad for only children; it is a true blessing to live, love, and laugh with a sibling by your side. Even when I feel alone, I am not entirely alone. I have her forever, and she has me forever. Here's a list of reasons why I will always love my sister.

5. She always knows how to make me laugh or smile.

Whenever I am sad, my sister knows how to make me feel a little bit better. Whether it's with a big hug or showing me a funny video, my sister is there to make things better every time. She also continues to amaze me with what a good human being she is. She is always there for her friends, she is generous with her time and resources, and she is very kind. Though my sister may look up to me solely based on my height, I look up to her based on what a good person she is. An extra shout out to my mom, who helped raise us to look out for each other and recognize when the other is hurting. Very rarely can you form a bond with someone where you can tell just by looking at them if they are sad.

4. She is the one I can trust to be the most honest.

Though my sister is younger than me, I have always found her to be a bit wiser than I am. I can always go to her asking for advice (sometimes even if I don't ask I get some...). She will always, always tell me the truth when I ask her, "does this fit me?", or "do you like this color?". Sure, the truth hurts, but honesty is the best policy. Without her, I may have made a lot of poor clothing choices and decided to do some crazy things. Half the time when I look great, it's because of the guidance of my sister (the other half of the time is because Instagram and Pinterest).

3. I have a lot of fun times with her.

Whether it's going to the mall or just sitting at home watching television together, we always manage to have a good time together. I enjoy her company, even if she can get a little too energetic for me at times. Whenever there's an event or activity, my sister is the first person I want to take along. With my sister at my side, fun times are guaranteed to happen. We are huge goofballs around each other. I embarrass her just enough in public. ;)

2. We've been through a lot together.

Just as we've had a lot of good times together, we've also had a lot of bad times together. We've gotten through a lot of emotionally heavy events, all the while she was at my side. Between moving and family deaths and just plain suffering, my sister knows all that I have been through. Sometimes that's just the kind of person you need when you're feeling down- someone who knows what you've been through and how hard it is to keep getting up after so many knockdowns.

1. She is my sister.

This is pretty self-explanatory. To quote Hamilton the musical, "I know my own sister like I know my own mind, you will never find anyone as trusting or as kind, I love my sister more than anything in this life, I will choose her happiness over mine every time". When we were little and would fight, my mom would always tell us, "you two better get along. Because you will have each other long after your dad and I are gone." That hit home to me. My sister is my lifelong companion. Cherish your siblings, they are one of the best gifts God can give you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
