5 Reasons Why October Through December is the Best Time of the Year
It’s that time of the year again where we are coming into the final months of 2016. Summer has officially ended, the weather is now cold enough to get away with wearing sweatshirts and leggings everyday, and midterms are finally (or almost) over. Here are 5 reasons why mid-October through December is the best time of the year.
1. Colder Weather
Now don’t get me wrong; summer weather is great and all but fall weather is just more refreshing. There’s nothing like stepping outside into crisp, cool air and seeing the abundance of orange, red, and golden yellow leaves as they change color on the trees. Sitting outside on a brisk fall day, layered in a sweater, vest and leggings while drinking a hot apple cider and feeling the sun beat down on you is in my eyes so relaxing (especially as you catch up on homework, study for midterms or even just take a quick nap).
2. Holidays
It’s the most wonderful time of the year (I dare you to try and read that sentence without singing it. Don’t worry, I couldn’t). Every year it seems as if once October begins holidays come faster and faster. There’s Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s and with each holiday (with the exception of Halloween) comes a nice break off from school. There’s nothing like the holidays with lots of food, family, and fun and this time of year is prime time for just that.
3. Comfort Foods
No longer is it time to watch what we eat in order to have the best beach body possible. And this time of the year is to thank for that. With colder weather comes comfort foods. Soups, stews, pies (pumpkin, apple, pecan), apple cider donuts, hot chocolate, apple cider...the list could go on and on. This time of the year is perfect to sit in front of a fire with an oversized sweatshirt and eat your favorite comfort foods.
4. Christmas Break
As a freshman in college, I can definitely say that I am excited for my first month long Christmas break. Not only is it a time when it is acceptable to blast Christmas music, winter break is a time to catch up with friends and family (and work as college wiped out your bank account).
5. Fall/Winter Clothes
Leggings, jeans, sweatshirts, sweaters, vests, jackets, scarves, comfy socks. With cold weather comes lots of layers to keep warm. There are so many different ways to pair a fall or winter outfit. The neutral yet sophisticated colors of a fall wardrobe and the cozy, knit sweaters paired with jeans or leggings and a pair of boots are perfect to wear on any fall or winter day.
