Life has its ups and downs and can definitely get way too stressful at times. Being a college student is definitely not easy. For most people, there is one person that we all lean on and expect to lift us up when we're down and guide us throughout life. For me, this person is my mom.
1. She is always there for me.
Moms are always there for us from the second of our birth. Not only do they have the extreme pressure of actually giving birth to us, but they manage to deal with all of our crazy antics that we accumulate throughout our lives. Throughout all of the stuff we put our moms through, they are still there by our side. My mom has had to deal with a lot of stuff throughout her life (that I've caused), and still manages to keep a smile on her face when talking to me. Whenever I have a problem, my mom is the first person I call and beg to tell me how to fix it. Even when the problems seem monumental, my mom manages to remind me to keep a level head. The first person I call if I am ever in trouble is my mom. All of this is because she is my best friend.
2. I can tell her anything.
Moms relate to daughters more than they relate to anyone else. At some point, my mom was my age and has probably been through a lot of similar experiences I am either going through or will be going through at some point. With my first breakup, my mom told me everything I needed to do to be strong. Before my first year of college, my mom reminded me that I am a freshman and I will make mistakes. With my first fight with my mom, we managed to talk through it and work it all out. Of course, no daughter is ever going to tell her mom EVERYTHING, but it does come pretty close. Throughout my life, my mom has always been the first person I tell things to and the first person I come to for advice (even if I don't always take it.) My mom is not only my mom but my life coach.
3. She believes in my potential.
I've always wanted to accomplish my dreams but the one person who always says I can is my mom. From day one moms tell us that we can be and do anything we want in life, even though a lot of us don't grow up to believe that. I always wonder if I will amount to anything all the time and there has been a lot of frequent phone calls to my mom with me crying saying that I can't do it and life sucks. However, every time these calls happen, my mom reminds me that I can do anything I set my mind to.
4. She is so much like me.
Moms know exactly how we function and act because we got it from them. I've spent many car rides with my mom jamming out to the radio with some of our favorite songs. Eventually, we look at each other and end up laughing hysterically because we are so off key, but it makes us happy. Whenever there's someone I don't like that is a celebrity or otherwise that I think is just plain annoying, my mom is the first one that agrees with me (but only sometimes). We like the same foods, we laugh at the same jokes, and we spend the majority of our time together just being goofballs. Even when we have those moments where my dad is embarrassed to know us, we still act like ourselves and enjoy each others company. We get along so well, and I couldn't ask for anything more.
5. She is my role model.
Moms are the reason for our existence and all of the personality traits that we possess. Not only do they manage to raise us and take care of us, but they also manage to take care of themselves. All of these qualities that are in my mom are the exact qualities I wish to have some day. I want my kids to be able to type an article similar to this when they grow up and be able to say the same things about me. My mom is the strongest, smartest, funniest, most amazing woman I have ever met. At some point in my life I will have to "grow up" and become an official adult, but because of my amazing mom, I hope to be everything she is.
