The Inner Bean is a coffee shop located in Emporia, Kans. at 1328 Exchange Street. The Inner Bean is sponsored by an Emporia State University Campus Organization called Xenos and Flint Hills Christian Church. It offers a relaxing community. Hours vary depending on the school year. Within walking distance from Emporia State, the Inner Bean is the perfect place to take your homework or to study. And while you are taking the necessary study break, it’s a great place to get an amazing drink. The Inner Bean serves awesome coffee drinks, teas, and Italian Cream Sodas. It is also an awesome place to meet your friends to just hang out.
There are many reasons why I love the Inner Bean.
1. Bible Study
Because of the Inner Bean, I found a place where I could go for Bible study. The Inner Bean hosts a freshmen Bible study, a women’s Bible study, and a men’s Bible study weekly. Because of this weekly Bible study, I've grown in my faith, met new people, and have surrounded myself with people I can trust and learn from. It’s a wonderful opportunity to get involved.
2. Life Long Friendships
The Inner Bean has surrounded me with amazing people. It has introduced me to people I probably would never have met at the University. Because of the Inner Bean, I have made more friends in Emporia in such a short amount of time. The people I have met encourage me every day. They know just what to say when times are tough. And I know that no matter what I am in need of, I can turn to this group of people. They are a daily reminder to me of how blessed I truly am.
3. The Drinks
The drinks at the Inner Bean are delicious; They are awesome. There are so many flavors to choose from – the options on the drink you want are endless. The flavors range from anything fruity such as apple, banana or strawberry – to the classic flavors such as vanilla, hazelnut, or caramel. The best part is the optional homemade whip cream.
4. Volunteer Opportunities
The Inner Bean has provided me with volunteer opportunities as well. The baristas of the Inner Bean are all volunteers. It was so much fun learning how to make all the drinks. Everything from learning how to steam the milk, making an Espresso shot, and making whip cream. Each barista typically volunteers two-to-three hours of their time a week. Some volunteer more time, it just depends.
5. Events
Each week, the Inner Bean hosts a Bible study and a game night. Each semester, the Inner Bean tries to host worship nights, live music, or some type of event. These events get the community involved and often give the students an opportunity to take a break from studying.
