Jon Snow is one of the biggest characters of "Game of Thrones". He is apart of the Stark family and services the night watch. But, his biggest plot mystery is who are Jon Snow's parents. Many believe Jon's mother is Ned's old lover he had meet up during the Mad King's war. Sadly, I am here to prove that wrong. I believe Jon Snow's true parents are Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targarygen!
1. Lyanna Engagement to Robert Baratheon.
Lyanna was not happy at all to be with Robert. She should no emotion to the engagement. In the book series of "Songs of Fire and Ice," Lyanna was said to be emotionless and isolated herself when her engagement was made.
2. Rhaegar's gift to Lyanna
In King's Landing, there was a tournament for jousting to be held. Rhaegar was in the final battle and won the tournament. There he saw Lyanna and set a bouquet of roses in her lap. Lyanna was said to have blushed when the handsome prince did this. Sadly, this must of hurt Rhaegar's wife, Emilia. Emilia was at the tournament with their three children and watch as Rhaegar gave flowers to another woman.
3. Lyanna "kidnapped"
When Lyanna was kidnapped by Rhaegar, it caused a huge issue for both Baratheons and Starks. But you only hear Robert saying that Lyanna was kidnapped. This could be because Lyanna truly wasn't. She could of just ran away with Rhaegar to be with him and escape her marriage to Robert. Bran would later tell the story of Lyanna kidnapping to Osha when they are in the tombs.
4. Ned's Promise
Ned Stark had promised Lyanna something on her death bed. What is was we would never know. My guess is that Lyanna had Ned promise to keep Jon in hiding. Hearing of Rhaegar's death and Robert's blood lust for Targaryen's blood could of left her in fear for her son's life. Ned had taken Jon in as his "bastard son" and treated him as one of his own for Lyanna. Which would explain why he always defended him from his wife's anger towards Jon.
5. The Genetics
We are obviously shown that the Targaryen gene is recessive and does not show in the offspring unless mated with another Targaryen. Daenerys and Drogo's child is shown with bronze skin and dark hair. None of Daenerys's physical traits are shown on the child. This would explain why Jon has dark curly hair and strong Northerner face.
In the end we all just hope that Jon Snow is alive for Season 6 of "Game of Thrones."
