5 Reasons Why It's OK To Have A Good Cry
Science All

Many people think that crying is a source of weakness. However, keeping your emotions bottled up inside is not healthy for your mental well-being. Crying does not mean that you're weak, it means that you are confronting the way you feel and addressing your sadness, anger or even happiness. You are allowed to have feelings and you are allowed to cry. We are only human and sometimes we don't have it all together and that is OK. So grab some tissues and read about all the benefits of watery eyes.

1. Addressing your feelings helps you move on

Crying allows you to let go of all the negative feelings and anger you have been keeping bottled up inside. Whether you cry in the moment or cry later on, moving on is a powerful thing. Letting go of extra baggage is the best thing you can do for yourself.

2. Being vulnerable allows you to connect with others on an emotional level.

Constantly putting on a brave face is a great skill to have but people may not be able to connect with you on a personal level. Being vulnerable allows you to connect with your friends on a more spiritual level.

3. Crying helps you cleanse negative emotions.

Allowing yourself to feel sad, angry or mad is a good thing. Once you have a good cry you will likely feel better about your situation. Moreover, you may even find clarity in problem solving and moving forward.

4. Crying allows you to be creative.

If you are a writer, artist or musician you can understand that being in tune with your emotions fuels your creativity.

5. Crying helps you let go of suffering and come to terms with the truth.

No one likes to hold grudges or have a grudge held against them for something that happened a long time ago. Crying helps you end emotional suffering and move forward with your life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
