5 Reasons Why I LOVE Summer

Living in a northern state of America, nothing else excites me more than the summer. Winter is such a drag and it feels like it will never come to an end. The harsh, bitter weather that the winters here provide, makes me appreciate summer more and more every single time that it comes around - Here are 5 reasons why I LOVE summer:

1. The Weather

To me, there is no greater feeling than when the sun's rays beat down on my skin. It relaxes is me and automatically puts a smile on my face. Nice weather also gives me an excuse to go outdoors, put all of my technology aside, and free my mind into the clean air.

2. Fishing

One of my absolute favorite things to do is load up the boat and take it out on the water. Having a fishing rod in my hands will immediately relieve any stress that I have and take my mind off everything that is bothering me - not to mention the initial adrenaline rush that you get when you feel a fish take your bait/lure, is one of the most exciting feelings that I have ever, and will continue to get.

3. Bonfires

Whenever there is a clear sky at night and the weather is dry, the first thing that comes to my mind is a fire. I love sitting around a fire, listening and singing along to great music with my friends. I enjoy the nature around me and really enjoy gazing at the stars.

4. Swimming

The only time that I enjoy feeling water upon my skin when outside, is when I'm swimming. Feeling my body cut through water, whether I'm in a swimming pool or in the ocean at a beach, is so satisfying. It's relieving to my skin and makes my body feel incredible when I get out.

5. The Scenery

Through all the sweet pandemonium that's going on in this world, the scenery of summer can surely bring happiness to my mentality - the flowers, the sunset, and the bright blue sky are just some examples of the very many eye-catching sights that I can never seem to steer my attention away from

I could go on and on about the things that I love that summer brings. I always look forward to this time of year every year. I hope to move south one day so I can enjoy all of these attributes almost all year!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
