5 Reasons Why Gucci Mane Should Be Booked for Morehouse's 2016 Homecoming

1. Gucci Mane is the quintessential representation of a renaissance man that has morally transcended many other rappers in the trap rap field of hip-hop.

Gucci has decided to change his life, give up on drugs and unhealthy life style choices, encouraged and empowered women in all fields of humanity, and most importantly shown the black community that change is possible, attainable, and better for our overall personal development. Gucci is one of very few rapper that has spoken about the complexities of lives of Black people in a way that expresses humility and genuineness that is truly authentic to his own personal lifestyle.

2. Trap Music is the center point of the southern Black community and should be embraced unapologetic by the people it was intended for, Black people.

Gucci Mane encourages and inspires Black people to be successful regardless of the racially oppressive and patriarchal boundaries that have been placed on men and women of color. Gucci is the spokesman for the concept of "Sauce" and this is something that all Black college students grapple with as the acquire their new positions in the black community as educators, doctors, lawyers, preachers, and engineers. He tell us not to get lost in the "sauce", this being a message to people who move up the social ladder and get consumed by material possessions and prestige.

3. Atlanta is the home of the AUC and the only historically black colleges in city of Atlanta therefore, who is more fit to embrace the true essence of Atlanta Hip Hop than Morehouse College?

The AUC has a very deep effect on the hip hop community even for before the "Freaknik Days" and that is tradition that we must continue.

4. Gucci Mane is a beacon of hope for many who come from his similar life style conditions.

Especially in the Atlanta area and that is something that resonates deeply with many African American students across the country current studying in college to better themselves, much like Gucci Mane did with his music.

5. Having a Trap Rap artist like Gucci Mane perform at our HBCU Family Reunion a.k.a Homecoming, will expose current students and alumni to a new sector of Black art.

6. It only right that "Da House" welcomes home one of Atlanta's biggest and most influential artist in the Atlanta Area. If we don't support our artist, who will?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
