If you are lucky to be blessed with a niece or nephew, you will totally understand why being an aunt is the greatest blessing.
1. You get to spoil them more than you spoil yourself.
I don’t know about anyone else but when I get my paychecks
the first thing I do is run to the store, see something for myself, turn around,
and go right to the kids section to buy my nephew a new Thomas the Train.
2. They think you are the coolest person ever.
They think everything you do is awesome, including the
accidental burp that they now can copy. (Sorry, Paul.) You will never have to
worry about looking stupid or saying something that makes zero sense because
they will laugh or smile at anything you say. If daddy or mommy say no, they
know their aunt will say yes. (Sorry again.)
3. You can watch kiddy shows with no shame.
I can honestly say I know every song from "Thomas the Train," I can recite every line from "Peppa Pig," and to be honest, I have no shame.
4. Skipping out on the “dirty” stuff.
Once they get cranky, start throwing a tantrum, or they have
a little bit of a dirty diaper, it’s right back to daddy and mommy.
5. The mushy moments.
This is by far my favorite part of being an aunt. They get
into those moods where they need to lay on top of you, or they need to sit with
you and hold your hand. The random little hugs and kisses is what makes it so
great.
If you asked me two years ago how I felt about being an aunt,
I probably said it’s whatever. But now, my nephew is my whole entire world. I’m
in awe every time I see him. I am so lucky to watch this little meatball of a
baby, grow up into a meatball of a boy.
