Have you ever religiously watched a show for over 4 seasons and then suddenly it gets cancelled?
The worst.
That's what happened to over 4 million viewers when ABC announced that they would be canceling "Nashville" after it's series finale, which aired May 25, 2016. Here are 5 reasons why ABC shouldn't have cancelled "Nashville:"
1. The actors' chemistry was actually really good.
It's no surprise that Golden Globe nominee Connie Britton would act amazingly alongside anyone. However, her on-screen nemesis played by Hayden Panettiere was the perfect fit. They played two country artists who never quite see eye to eye. Other superb actors include Charles Esten and Clare Bowen.
2. Storylines were just getting started.
One of Nashville's greatest strengths were the storylines. The various scenes surrounding real, heavy subjects were some of the greatest I've seen in a show today. The dramas within family dynamics and lies being exposed seemed to carry on throughout the series.
Highlight moments:
Juliette's mental breakdown
Will coming out to Nashville
3. The series is already in talks for a revival.
It was announced on May 26, 2016 by Lionsgate Productions that over 5 networks have reached out to discuss possibilities for a fifth season on a different network. It's not yet been confirmed, however it's been told that the producers of Nashville have a special long-term deal with the actors should the show continue.
4. It started a conversation about homophobia in country music.
In seasons 4 and 5, Nashville tackled the lingering questions surrounding homophobia in country music. On the show, we follow the story of Will Lexington (Chris Carmack) who comes out as gay to all of the world. Of course, he receives some backlash and goes through everything we would expect to happen if that should occur anytime soon. Whether it was positive or negative, the show definitely sparked up a conversation.
5. The music was actually really good.
Over the four seasons, Nashville showed us that not only could the cast act, but they could also sing. Check out Lennon and Maisy who play Rayna James' daughters:
The show had their own songwriters that worked alongside the producers to create the perfect sound to accompany the series' tone.
