When you ask someone what they think the most contested debate of all time is, some may say things such as Democrats or Republicans. However, I believe the most important debate that the world has truly seen is that of dogs versus cats. While I think both are absolutely amazing, I must admit I am a bit partial to cats myself. As a result of this opinion, I have decided to give five reasons why I love these mischievous felines so much.

1. Their purr

For me personally, this one point could win the whole debate. I love nothing more than the feeling of my cat curling up against me while he purrs. While for some cats purrs are rare, others (aka my cats) are total purr machines. Purring is great because it's not only relaxing to humans but also means your cat is happy as well!

2. You don't have to take them out to go to the bathroom

As someone who owns a cat and a dog, I can tell you just how convenient this really is, especially when it's cold outside. With cats, you don't have to worry about making sure they've gone to the bathroom because unlike dogs cats are quite independent in this aspect. As long as you scoop up after them twice a day or so they're generally good to go (pun intended). While the idea of a litter box may seem yucky, when it's the middle of a snow storm you'll be happy you can scoop up after your cats in the comfort of your heated home.

3. They're silly

Have you ever seen a cat play with catnip? use a scratching post? play with a piece of string? It doesn't take much to entertain a cat and most of them have very colorful personalities when playing. Playing with your cat can be a great bonding activity for both of you and will definitely increase both you and your cats moods!

4. They're cuddly

While many people associate cats with independence and aloof behavior, many are surprised to find that many of these pint-sized felines are actually quite the love sponges. Some cats may start out shy but most will generally warm up to you after just a bit of time. When I'm tired, there's nothing more comforting than laying down while my cat curls up with me.

5. They become your best friend

After all of the random meowing, furniture scratching, and occasional accidents at the end of the day your cat truly does become your best friend. Bonding with a cat is a really rewarding experience, especially when even the most skittish of felines begins to show its affections for you. While having any pet is amazing, caring for a cat can often be a fun and interesting experience like no other.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
