This Is What Country Music Is

It's not just all about tractors, trucks, and beer.

Ah, the sound of a guitar strumming or a banjo picking -- that's what country music is. Wrong. Then singing about a truck, a tractor, and drinking beer -- that's what country music is. Wrong. Although country music of today seems to have a rather large difference in style than the original country music singers (King George, Merle, Waylon, Dolly), the new faces on the scene of country music (Jason, Luke, Eric, Carrie) sure know how to work a rowdy crowd. If you happen to one of the unfortunate souls that claims to "hate" country music, I'm sorry for you because you're missing out on a large part of musical history being made. Here's only five of the many reasons why I love this colorful genre:

1. The songs tell stories.

Each and every song by each and every singer in this genre tells a story in such a way that makes people listen. Garth Brooks "Thunder Rolls" & Carrie Underwood's "Blown Away" are just two examples of these best-selling country hits that tell a story. Fans also have no choice but to sing along when you hear FGL's "Baby, you a song..." That's what country music is: Taking so much pride in a song or an artist or a group that you cannot help but to sing along with every word.

2. Each artist is extremely family-oriented.

I know that there are and always will be certain exceptions, but it seems to me that more and more country artists are able to balance their careers with their personal life. Just take a look at Thomas Rhett and his wife! They're the epitome of #relationshipgoals. And, look at the way Luke Bryan and his family stepped up to take care of his nephew after the passing of his sister and his brother-in-law. That's what country music is: Knowing that family is your first and only priority despite having a chart-topping musical career.

3. There's no concert like a country concert.

So far, I've only seen 10 country artist's in concert, and I can't wait to attend my next one. The crowd that surrounds me while we fill up these stadiums are people just like me. The artist or band never disappoints, and they know how to exactly work the crowd and give them what they need. That's what country music is: When an artist or group cares so much about their fans that they try so hard to make their shows an amazing experience.

4. The country music stars are the same people I could call my friends.

The comparison between the faces of country music versus every other genre is very different. (I'm not saying that the artists from other styles of music aren't just as cool as country singers). I'm just saying that at the end of the day, I would rather sit around and have a beer with BK and Tyler from Florida Georgia Line. And, I wouldn't say no to spending the day with someone as hilarious as Blake Shelton. That's what country music is: Relating so well to an artist and their songs that you feel like you know them.

5. They're all super cute!!!

Sam Hunt. Luke Bryan. Blake Shelton. The list could go on and on and on. Each face of country music just happens to be a very attractive one. Who wouldn't want to drive three-plus hours to wait in line for four-plus hours to watch one of the greatest artists of the country music genre??

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
