1. The Weather
Don't get me wrong. I love the summer heat and the rain showers in April, but to me, nothing compares to the cool crisp breeze in the fall. Nothing is better than walking to class watching the leaves fall and feeling the sun shine on your face just enough to warm you but not get hot and sweaty. Therefore, the makeup you perfected before walking to class stays perfect. Another plus: no giant coat to cover up your cute outfit or leggings and a T-shirt. In my case, leggings and a T-shirt usually wins.
2. The Clothes
Dark jeans and sweaters, I can barely wait. No offense to all you summer-lovers out there, but jean shorts and tank tops just don't do it for me. Maybe because nothing looks cute after it is drenched in sweat, and the feeling of thighs rubbing together is the worst thing I could ever imagine. However, dark jeans look good on everyone and go with pretty much anything. Boots, loafers, Converse, sandals (on a warm fall day) and my favorite of all, booties. Aside from shoes, you can wear any type of top with dark jeans. A sweater, a tank and a sweater, a casual T-shirt and light jacket, I mean come on, the list just goes on and on.
3. Pumpkin patches, pumpkin spiced lattes, carving pumpkins, pumpkin everything.
Not everyone is a big fan of pumpkin flavor, but those people are missing out. More importantly than that, though, pumpkin patches. I know it's very stereotypical, but they are honestly really fun. They provide plenty of fun. Corn mazes, rides on hay wagons and picking the perfect pumpkin then getting to take them home and carve or paint them. Bonus: don't forget all of those sratty photo ops!
4. Halloween and Thanksgiving
Halloween has been one of my favorite holidays ever since I was a little kid mostly because of the costumes, candy and parties at school. Funny that not much has changed now that I'm in college. One of the best parties of the year is watching ever let loose and dress up. It has a funny way of putting everyone in a better mood, maybe because it takes us all back to being kids. On a different note, fall also brings us Thanksgiving! A holiday all about being thankful for what we have, stuffing ourselves full of mashed potatoes, turkey, gravy, stuffing and pumpkin pie. Thanksgiving is almost as American as the Fourth of July, thanks to backyard football games and the NFL on all day. Speaking of football, this brings me to my last point.
5. Football!
Now, people can disagree all they want, but football is by far the best part of fall. I look forward to college football all year round. Waking up early and watching College Game Day and then following it by watching college games all day on Saturday. Then, on Sundays (although I spend most of the time napping or doing homework), it is a true blessing to have games on in the background of my day. The best part of all, however, tailgates and Baker University football. Baker may be a small school, but we know how to have fun and support our teams. I'm so happy to be a part of all of it because I thought when I was going to a small school that I would miss out on that, but I'm definitely not. Baker is absolutely small but mighty. Especially when it comes to rivalry games.
Good news y'all: only 68 days until the best time of the year!
