If you're from Central Arkansas, you've most likely heard of Thriller Thursdays. It's put on everything Thursday throughout October by Alice 107.7's morning show hosts Heather & Poolboy (oh and Moose!). I've grown up listening every Thursday morning, and most likely having nightmares every Thursday night. Now that I'm not home for it, I figured I'd share with the rest of the world what makes Thriller Thursdays so thrilling!
1. Most of the Stories are From Listeners
Heather and Poolboy encourage listeners to call or email into the show their horrifying ghost stories, and 9/10 they're weird as all get out. Of course, there's the occasional one that we all know is made up, but the really good ones scare us more than traffic jams on the river bridge
2. These People Have PROOF!
When the listeners tell their ghost stories, most of the time they have pictures, video, or audio to prove that it really did happen. Nothing is creepier than hearing a scary story and then seeing the video to prove it. Not today Satan, not today.
3. The Sound Effects
I'm a firm believer in that horror movies wouldn't be quite as bad if there wasn't scary music to accompany it, and that's exactly the same for Thriller Thursday. They've played the same background sounds for years and it still sends chills down my spine when stories are being told
4. Old Arkansas Legends
In Arkansas, we have old legends and ghost stories in almost every town and quite a few hotels. From lights following you on backroads, to figures on the freeway, to asylums turned hotels, there are plenty of stories to make you want to move ASAP.
5. Haunted Road Trips
In the spirit of Thriller Thursday, Heather and Poolboy have been known to take the occasional haunted road trip to some of Arkansas's most haunted places. Just listening to the story of the stay at the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs is enough to make me want to stay far, far away!
