Choosing a college can be a very difficult choice for some. One factor in the process is based on the size of the school. Here are five reasons why you should choose to go to a small school.
1. You'll Know Your Professors
Small schools provide students with the unique ability to form individual relationships with the professors. Knowing ones professor makes a class more bearable. It provides the student with the ability to feel more comfortable when approaching said professor with questions. Being comfortable approaching teachers lets student ask for clarification on projects and other assignments. Resulting in them receiving a better grade in the class.
2. You'll Know Your Classmates
This is especially important if you are new to the school or an incoming freshman. Small school means smaller classes therefore you will know your classmates very well by the end of the semester. Especially when you need to get projects done or need help on assignments it proves beneficial to make friends in your classes. Also, it is easier to make friends in your classes because every person in there is in the same situation as you so you all understand each others' struggle.
3. You'll Know Your Campus
One of the best things about a small campus is that it is almost impossible to be late because you can walk across campus in 5 minutes. With all that free time that you save you can scope out and find nice places to study and relax. After a year I am still find places to relax and work. For a small campus it yields a ton of secret places to study.
4. Better Chance at Scholarships
Another benefit of a smaller school is that they still trecieve the same amount of funding but are able to distribute it to less people, resulting in more money awarded per student. Also, a smaller school yields less compitition so there is a better chance that you will recieve the best scholarships. This is really important especially if one of your priorities for school choice is the cost. Money can make or break your decision and a small school can help make that decision
5. Smaller Class Size
Last but not least, a smaller class size is a huge benefit of smaller schools. In big universities general classes can have up to 400 students. 400 students means that no one knows when you do or don't show up to class. It means that if you sleep through the lecture no one will care. You feel less like a number at a smaller university. Less lost in the crown and more like a person. Smaller classes also make it easier to pay attention because it feels like the professor and the other students notice you more.
