Five Reasons To Get Lost
Start writing a post

One of my favorite things to do is to just get in my car and go. I usually don't have any destination in mind -- I just go wherever I feel like going. Most of the time, these little adventures prove to be the most rewarding experiences. The people you meet, the food you eat is all new and exciting because you may not have ever been there before. There are different reasons for when I get the need to just get lost.

1. I need to clear my head.

Life can get pretty hectic, and sometimes you just feel like combusting from all of the emotions you keep locked up. A night drive is a perfect remedy for this, where all you have to think about is the road. For an added bonus, grab some of your friends to go with you, and that late night horrible car singing will let you forget about anything weighing you down.

2. A date night.

Whether with your S/O or your best friends, make a date out of getting lost. Take a penny and flip it every time you come to a stop. Heads for right, and tails for left. Pick a number, one through 15, to set as your flips. When you're done, look around and make a date out of wherever you happened to end up.

3. I want to explore my town.

Pick a Saturday free of commitments to just get lost in your town. Walk around, meet strangers, take lots of selfies and make your own memories. If you do this on your own I promise you, although it may be awkward at first, you will feel more confident about living on your own in a town you now know better.

4. I need to de-stress.

No matter where you end up in life, there is always going to be drama. Whether you are at the center of it or you just somehow got dragged into it, taking a long drive to somewhere new can be refreshing. It might even help you decide on how you want to handle the situation.

5. No reason at all.

Enough said. You don't need a reason to want to explore, just go out there and do it!

Playlist for the road trip.

"Let It Go" by James Bay.
"Open Season" by High Highs.
"10,000 Emerald Pools" by BORNS.
"No One's Gonna Love You" by Band of Horses (it's actually a really cute song, I promise).
"Strange & Beautiful" by Aqualung.
Literally, anything by Coldplay and/or The Fray.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
