As Halloween came to an end, everyone had the next upcoming holiday on their mind. Thanksgiving. With Thanksgiving there comes a short break where college students can finally return home again. For most students that are attending an out of state college, this will be their first time visiting home. Thanksgiving break will be filled with happy times and great memories. Here are 5 reasons why college kids are counting down the days until Thanksgiving break.
1. Family
Everyone gets to go home and see their family after days, weeks and could be even months. Most out-of-state students have not seen their family since move in day. Thanksgiving break will be a time to catch up with family members and share experiences that have happened away at school so far. Thanksgiving gives us a time to see relatives again and attend crazy family parties. Nothing is better than coming home and being reunited with family.
2. Friends
Seeing friends this break is something I definitely will be looking forward to. Most college kids parted ways with their friends in August and haven't seen them since. Thanksgiving break will be a time to make memories with old friends again and share their experiences that happened at school so far.
3. Food
Let's be honest, the best part of Thanksgiving is the food. From sweet potatoes, to cheesy potatoes to mashed potatoes, to all different kinds of pies, Thanksgiving is definitely a holiday that is well looked forward too. For most college kids, it will be nice to go home and have a home cooked meal instead of eating in the cafeteria all day everyday. Coming home for this home cooked meal, the best one yet, will be something everyone is looking forward to this Thanksgiving.
4. Football
Watching football on Thanksgiving is easily one of the best parts of the day. Attending a football game on Thanksgiving is also another must. Nothing compares to the atmosphere you get when you go downtown and watch your favorite sports team on Thanksgiving. Your holiday may even involve going outside and playing two hand touch football with the family. And who knows, someone might be competing for a Geller Cup out there. Whether you be at the game or at home with your family, watching football on Thanksgiving is the best kind of tradition.
5. Pets
Going home for the Thanksgiving break will be all the worth while when you get to see your furry friends again. Being away at college from your pets is hard, so reconnecting with them on a holiday break a blessing in itself.
