5 Reasons Your Roommate Should Also Be Your Best Friend
Alexis Newcomb

Everyone has that one friend. You know, the one that you can wake up in the middle of the night with your sudden and crazy life schemes, or the friend that you cannot stay mad at for over an hour because there is just no one else who gets it like they do. Everyone also has a roommate. The see all and know all person in your life. If you're lucky, they are one and the same for you. Here are the eight reasons that your roommate should be your best friend:

1. You have seen every side of each other.

From your "first thing in the morning" face, to the strange creature you turn into while crying, chances are your roommate has seen it all. You have seen the best and worst sides of one another, and you still choose to live together. Not to mention the fact that your roommate has most likely seen entirely more of you than any one person should see. If that is not friendship, I do not know what is.

2. You know the little things.

When you live with someone, it is simple to pick up on all of the "little things" that make them the (probably) wonderful person that they are. You learn each other's morning routine, and you learn simple traits like favorite foods or hobbies you each may have. You even pick up on the habits the other goes through, big or small. Not many people know as much as you do about each other, which makes being friends that much sweeter.

3. One word: music.

Having your best friend one bed over has its perks. Music is definitely one. You get to appreciate their love of music as well as introducing them to yours - chances are you will learn to love most of their music anyway. You are the first to show each other newly discovered songs (you have to share the feels), and a week later it becomes all you hear in the morning while you're getting ready (whether a capella or just too loud in general).

4. One more word: food.

OK so another huge perk would be food. A person appreciates the crap out of their food. What makes food even better? Eating it with your best friend that you live with... every day! Living together means cooking for each other, and it even means learning to make and try new foods. You bake together, you make a (huge) mess of the kitchen together and you eat together! Who doesn't love that? Or, if you're feeling lazy, you can order takeout from your favorite local place because, let's be honest, all best friends have one. The point is, everyone eats - everyone wins.

5. They are always there for you.

Living with your best friend means that they are the first person that you see every day. They are the one you tell every little detail of your life to, and, living in the same bedroom as them means that they basically have to listen to those details. They will accept you for you, no questions asked. You have made numerous adventures together - the pictures on your walls prove that. You love living together, and you love each other and the friendship you have built even more.

Best friend, roommate, whatever you choose to call them, they are one of your most favorite people of all time. With them, you not only have a great time, you have one of the best relationships you could possibly have gained. They are your "ride or die," your "go to" person. You may not always see eye to eye, but you value each other too much for that to get in the way. At the end of the day, your roommate is your best friend, and they chose to live with you through it all.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
