I know, I know -- everyone thinks their city is the best city. It's just human nature to have pride in where you're from and represent it wherever you go. But I'm here to talk about the actual best city: New York City, that is. So here we go...
1. The Diversity!
Does Ellis Island ring a bell? Over the past 200 something years, New York has been an international hub for immigrants, who seek a better life for themselves and their families. New York City has over 800 different languages spoken, and hundreds of ethnic enclaves, from all over the globe. Over 36 percent of NYC residents are immigrants born in foreign countries. This makes New York City a culturally rich melting pot, full of colorful people and traditions.
2. The Skyline!
You could show an 8-year-old child who lives in the dense Amazonian Rain forest a picture of the NYC skyline and he could identify it. From the expansive bridges, to the vast harbor, to the immense skyscrapers (that might actually just touch the sky), there are not many skylines that can top NYC's in beauty or recognizability.
3. The Food!

I apologize for the gross gif, but c'mon! Even the sewer rats know what's up! First things first, we have the BEST PIZZA, and the BEST BAGELS, period. NYC has an immense population, with people from all over the world. Therefore, there is worldwide cuisine available to you pretty much 24/7. Whether you want bagel with lox on a Sunday afternoon, or Korean food at 2 in the morning, in NYC a delicious meal is just right around the corner.
4. The Nightlife!
There's a reason they call NYC "the city that never sleeps." Neon signs screaming "open" as far as the eye can see, and a sea of yellow taxi cabs ready to take you wherever your heart desires. New York boasts some of the hottest nightclubs, and most outrageous concerts in the world. NYC nightlife is truly unmatched by any other other city!
5. The People!
I have no idea who that guy is, but I just thought the gif was very accurate. New Yorker's have a reputation of being gruff, selfish and cut throat and who knows maybe we are. But I know one thing: New Yorker's are great. They always have each other's backs when the going gets tough. When NYC faces adversity, differences are put aside, and everybody stands together. United.
