Scary stories are being told everywhere, new spooky ideas for costumes are being made, and children are at a crazy sugar high when this time of year hits. Although this time is minute in terms of festive mood when compared to Thanksgiving or Christmas, there are still reasons that make you fall in love with the mood.

1. There is pumpkin to be seen in everything.

Pumpkin pie, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin spice latte (and all the memes that go with it), pumpkin dip, pumpkin hummus, pumpkin smoothie, pumpkin oatmeal, carved pumpkins, and on and on. Although it is possible that some people (never met anyone like this) hate the pumpkin flavor, and that might mean this is the reason they hate this time of year. But who doesn't love pumpkin?

2. The fall colors.

If there is something that can be accepted as a universal feature that can be loved by everyone during this time are the fall colors. Especially in the northeast, the colors are spectacular. It feels like looking through a kaleidoscope every time you go out.

3. The football season kicks in.

As soon as September and fall hits, NFL starts, and for a football lover, it's like heaven on earth. Every day the Patriots have a game, I have to get ready for my thumb to be numb by the end of day because of refreshing the score page. This is of course during the week, But if there's a game on the weekend, it's goodbye world for 3 hours.

4. The cold breezes and the smell of rain.

After a hot, humid summer (especially in Louisiana), the cold breezes and the rains that come when fall arrives is nothing short of a blessing. Every time I feel the wind hit my face and the smell of rain hit my nose, I want to just stay there in a time loop.

5. Drinking hot chocolate while its raining outside.

The best feeling is when it is raining outside and I am drinking hot chocolate while watching "The Lion King" or some other movie that makes me feel nostalgic, but it is usually "The Lion King."

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
