5 Reasons To Just Get Up And Travel

We all have places we've put on our bucket lists and dreamed of going to but never thought it would actually happen ... but what's holding us back? I understand that we're still pretty young which means that we have to put school and work before most other things but I think that traveling can be just as important for these five reasons:

1. New everything

New people, new places, new experiences, new culture and the list could go on. What's better than experiencing something for yourself first hand? Nothing. Going to a place and learning new things, whether it be everyday facts or how different people live their lives, is even more beneficial than learning it from a book.

2. R & R

Everyone needs some rest and relaxation or they will go insane. Trust me I know this from experience. Why not rest and relax on a beach or somewhere with nice scenery? The enjoyment and happiness that we get from traveling and being at a home away from home is a good enough reason alone, to get up and travel.

3. Thanks for the memories

It's hard for people to get together with busy work, school, and every day life schedules but trips can be something that everyone will drop everything for. There is no one better than family and friends to go on a trip with and going on a trip with loved ones will bring back memories almost as good as the souvenirs you bring back.

4. No money? No problems

Traveling doesn't always cost an arm and a leg and there are many ways around spending a lot of money. Cutting corners on driving instead of flying or staying at a condo instead of getting two or three hotel rooms are ways that make the cost of the trip a little more doable. Depending on where you want to go, the more planning ahead, the better and possibly more cheaper. An easy spur of the moment weekend is just as great as a week out of the country, it just depends how much you want to spend!

5. It's something to look forward to!

Even if the trip is ten months away or next weekend it's always something to look forward to and counting down the days till departure day is fun. Having something exciting happening in the near future helps the days go by easier and most defiantly a lot faster!

So go, plan a trip to somewhere you've always wanted to go and don't look back. If you don't have the funds for it right now, start saving for it because I know once you get enough money and finally take the trip, it will be that much more worth the while. There's nothing stopping you from going and exploring the world!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
