5 Reasons Why I Like Going to Music Festivals

Music Festivals are fun. There's so many to experience and explore, but it is also a huge financial expense. I've had the opportunity to go to my share of music festivals, and there are so many reasons why I love going to them every year. From Coachella to Stage Coach and all the way to EDC, music festivals allow us young ones to experience something new and have a great time with great people.

Different people go to different festivals for different reasons, but I think we all go with the intention to have a great time and enjoy the music! Here's five reasons why I love going to music festivals...

  1. The Music- The music at each festival, whatever the genre may be, is great. I like to get captured by the lyrics and the beats. Some music, such as EDM, does not really have much lyrics, so in that case, I like to become one with the beats. It's crazy how a song with no lyrics can get me so pumped and excited. It's a euphoric feeling that I love to experience and I look forward to each time I listen to this type of music. For country concerts or festivals, I enjoy having a beer and listening to the meaningful lyrics behind each song.
  2. The People- The people at music festivals are usually fun and outgoing. You get to meet people from all parts of the U.S. and maybe even from outside the states. Going to EDM festivals is probably my favorite for this particular reason. Last summer, I attended EDC in Las Vegas and saw people from all over the world. I even met some Kappa Alphas from the University of Texas A&M. The people at these festivals or raves are all there for the music and to enjoy it. Everyone is respectful and loving, an experience I wish all my friends would take advantage of.
  3. Friendships- Whether it be in the parking lot as you tailgate or at your hotel as you're walking out, you meet new people and a lot of times you become friends with them and keep in contact. The next time a new festival or concert rolls around, you meet up and enjoy each other's presence just as before.
  4.  New Discoveries- Being at a music festival, you learn about the type of person you are, at least I did. Being surrounded by people I love and music I enjoy, I discovered a new side of me that I never knew existed. In addition to that, you get to discover new music and new artists, DJs, and performers.
  5. The Art- Not only is the music a form of art, but the stage set ups and the places to rest are all beautiful and captivating. Major festivals such as Coachella and EDC have different types of art forms for festival goers to enjoy. It's all unique to the festival and goes with the theme.

So now that you know a few reasons why I like going to festivals, will you join me? I dare you to go out to one, even if it's not your "type of music." I've taken friends to raves and they came back for more. If you're ever in need of a rave or festival buddy, be sure to hit me up. I'm always down for a new festival. Catch me at Coachella and EDC this new year!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
