Living with a complete stranger is something that can worry anyone. There is the chance that you could hate your roommate, but there is also the chance you could get along with them just fine. It's easy to point out why you may not get along with someone, but it's just as simple to explain why you get along as well. Here are 5 reasons why my roommate and I get along:

1. Honesty.

From the very first time my roommate and I spoke, we asked every question we could think of. From the very start, we asked if there were rules and if there were any pet peeves. I feel that, because we did this, we got to know each other very well. This has allowed us to live together smoothly. If you're going to live with someone, don't hesitate to ask questions about your living preferences.

2. Respect.

My roommate and I respect each other's property, space, and feelings. We know how to ask for something that we want to use. We understand that we have to live together for a long period of time and we might as well get along.

3. Having The Same Major.

Having a roommate who is pursuing the same major as you can make college so much easier. Chances are when you don't understand something, they will; if they don't understand it, you will. You can help each other out and, in the end, that brings you closer together. If it just so happens that neither of you understands what's going on, you can complain about it together.

4. Being friends and having individual friends.

Becoming friends with your roommate can be great. You can go out together and hang out with other people individually. You can both talk to each other when you need to, but you don't always have to. My roommate and I have a perfect balance of hanging out together, hanging out with our individual friends, and hanging out with our group of mutual friends.

5. We balance each other out.

My roommate and I balance each other out very well. We both work very hard, but sometimes I can get a little carried away. So, it's nice to have her there to pull me from my work when I get too obsessive over it. Sometimes it's the other way around and I have to pull us back to our work when we play too much.

Living with a roommate doesn't have to be a horrible experience. You just have to learn how to get along with one another. It will be hard sometimes, but that's life and it's something you just have to work through!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
