Since its inception, Game of Thrones has almost constantly been under fire for being a 'sexist' show; especially regarding women. Several members of the show's cast have come out and said that the show is most definitely not sexist, but that it does, in fact, show women in a variety of powerful roles. However, haters keep hating, and Emilia Clarke, also known as the Mother of Dragons, has had enough. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, she states that while there is controversy within the show, it is not sexist.

There’s so much controversy. Yet that’s what’s beautiful about Game of Thrones – it’s depiction of women in so many different stages of development. There are women depicted as sexual tools, women who have zero rights, women who are queens but only to a man, and then there are women who are literally unstoppable and as powerful as you can possibly imagine. So it pains me to hear people taking Thrones out of context with anti-feminist spin – because you can’t do that about this show. It shows the range that happens to women, and ultimately shows women are not only equal, but have a lot of strength. -Emilia Clarke

Here are some of the top reasons why GoT is not showing sexism towards women:

1. Arya Stark

Arya is the most badass young woman in the show, well, other than Daenerys of course. She refuses to be stuck in the typical womanly role of being the perfect lady. She hates the idea of marrying for power, influence, or money, and instead believes in creating your own way in life. She knows how to work a sword, and isn't afraid to kill someone who's in the wrong.

2. Cersei Lannister

While Cersei may have some less-than-popular, or downright creepy, relations with her brother, she's still totally a woman in control. She's the queen of the Seven Kingdoms, and widow to King Robert; and even though her husband died, she just keeps on ruling. What is sexist about a woman ruling a kingdom?

3. Brienne of Tarth

If you don't know who this sword-wielding, bad-guy-slaying lady is, then you're missing out! Brienne of Tarth defends whomever she has sworn to protect with her entire being, and can probably take out anyone-- be they male or female.

4. Catelyn Stark

Catelyn Stark has to be the most goal-driven, emotionally strong female in the show. She powers through even after her husband gets executed, she loses track of most of her children, and stands strong in a war dominated by men.

5. Daenerys Targaryen

Dany is by far the most badass character in the entire show! She has gone through more than anyone else, and continues to push forward, not allowing anyone or anything to come in between her and her goals. She had to deal with her creepy brother, being sold off and forcefully married to some stranger, and after falling in love with him, endured watching him die; later she figures out she has dragons and has to put up with countless people trying to steal them or trick her. Yet she outsmarts them every time and is steadily on her way to ruling over everyone!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
