True friendship isn’t always the easiest to come by. That’s why having a best friend who connects with you and cherishes you is a blessing. So much so that some of the reasons why your best friend is in fact the crème de la crème when it comes to mastering friendship could never go unnoticed.

1. Your BFF is a walking, talking, breathing diary.

The beauty of true friendship is the ability to talk about anything and everything under the sun with each other. From the embarrassing to the emotionally charged your best friend is the go to to spill some of your own tea! The most beautiful thing about having a walking, talking, breathing diary is that you never have to question secrets and stories slipping off of the pages. They are always secure with your best friend, like an unsaid agreement to keep each other’s secrets in, locked, with the key thrown away. Also, ears are open as your peace is being spoken.

2. Your BFF accepts your vulnerable moments.

Sometimes I wonder how someone can have such perfectly crafted shoulders to cry on. Like they were made to perfectly fit your head and catch your tears simultaneously. What a blessing. Being emotional and letting a good cry out (no matter how ugly it may be) is so important and much needed as often as possible. Limiting the questions and just letting the sobbing commence and occasionally rubbing your back for a dash of extra comfort. Needless to say, even in your most vulnerable states, you never have to question if your best friend is there for you or not.

3. The bodyguard, BFF edition.

No,this isn’t the critically acclaimed movie it’s something even better. The perfect protector every time you go out, the bathroom buddy, hold my purse, keys (and sometimes earrings) type of relationship. As cliché as this may seem, no one has your back like your best friend. No one will have your back, front and both your sides like your best friend. In some form or fashion they also are a pro at cock blocking when the time is right, constantly saving you from the not so hot guy with mediocre conversation. A superhero in my book.

4. Your BFF knows that sharing is caring.

Sharing has been a concept that has been engraved in our heads since we were little. Everything from clothing to food encompasses the statement "what’s mine is yours" to some degree. As time progressed, sharing has evolved from just simply letting a friend play with a toy. A best friend not only shares material objects but also things that money can’t buy. Wisdom and advice is just some of those priceless things. Sharing knowledge and experiences that has a funny way of making any situation that you bring up relevant and most importantly, relatable.

5. Your BFF accepts your flaws and forgives your faults.

When life weighs down and the flaws aren’t accepted by yourself in those moments your best friend has a beautiful way of providing some much needed support and gentle reminders. These reminders can include affirmations such as "Shut up you’re beautiful" or "How about we just pray it out." Not every day is going to be perfect and sometimes tempers can flare. Faults are forgiven and time still ticks like nothing ever happened. All in all, love is given and is never taken away. Oh the beauty of being accepted wholeheartedly by your best friend, even on your worst day.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine.
