5 Reasons Why Every Guy Needs A Girl Best Friend
Mark Anthony Bershell, Jr.

For some strange reason many people believe it is impossible for a guy to be best friends with a girl without some hidden agenda. Apparently, the perception is that our only goal in the friendship is to have sex with them and everything we do to foster that relationship is to achieve that goal. Well, I am here to break that stereotype and bring to light the reasons why every guy needs a girl best friend.

1. New perspective

Yes, you may have a general understanding that men and women see things differently, but to actually hear about their experiences and how it affects them is life changing. Like when a woman holds open the door for me and I immediately say sorry because I was supposed to hold it open for her. To her, it was just a natural thing to do, but I felt it was my obligation as a man to hold it open for her. Does it really matter who holds the door open for who? Ask your GBF (Girl Best Friend).

2. Being Emotional

It sounds ridiculous, but if there is one solid thing that I've learned from my GBFs, it's that allowing yourself to acknowledge what you're going through and experiencing those emotions that make you feel exposed is necessary. Maybe it's just me, but I believe that men are encouraged to shut off emotions that make them seem vulnerable for the sake of masculinity. News flash: rarely does that work out for us in the long run. I have also discovered that wine helps get you through it.

3. Relationship Advice

Guys, this should be an obvious one. Ever wonder why your girlfriend acts the way she does? Consider befriending one of her girlfriends to get the inside scoop on how to avoid slipping up or even surprise her with a little lady knowledge. You'd be surprised at how many women appreciate a guy that's in touch with his feminine side (just ask Nicki).

4. Food is ALWAYS Involved

I kid you not, that most of the times I get together with my GBF, there is some type of food. Seriously guys, girls like to eat -- a lot, and so do I, so why not be friends with them? You are missing out on some serious binge eating because when they want to eat, NOTHING gets in their way. Just get behind them and hold on. Fastest food service ever.

5. The Little Things

This part is hard to explain, and more so one of those experiential components of the friendship. When you find that GBF that you can always call, or if you don't talk to for a while and she sends you a nice (nice is a synonym for Molly Weasley style reprimand right?) little reminder to do so, keep her around. It means she is not afraid to knock you down a couple of pegs and that is the sign of a true friend.

Not every guy is mature enough to handle having a GBF, but to those of you who are willing to give it a go, you will most certainly not be disappointed.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
