All through my life I have always noticed one thing about my family and myself I could never change, and that was being Petty. Now, I know that people say that if you’re petty then you need to change your priorities in life and try to come at people who act out in a petty way. Unfortunately, I just think they hate on petty people because they secretly want to be Petty. You want to be the higher man, but in the back of your head I know what you really thinking. Now, there are levels to pettiness and people can be disrespectful and petty or cunning and petty. I am more I am going to be real smart about the amount of Pettiness I give you and know that I am right. I am the stubborn petty. But for all those people that still shake their head and look down upon my pettiness, I am going to give you real reasons as to why I am petty.
1. Being petty actually feels pretty good.
The universe is finally in your favor and the wrong perpetrated against you has been corrected. Someone really decided to test your patients, so you had to teach them a lesson in pettiness and ‘Girl, Bye.’ People love to try other people and see how far they can just interrupt their moments of calm happiness. They want to see you feel bad, but once you react with a Petty little comment like, “and that is why you have no friends.” You can move on with your bubble of happiness uninterrupted by someone who just likes to mess with people
2. Pretty much everybody is petty, even if they swear they aren’t.
Just because a person is not known to be petty or you have never seen them initiate any pettiness towards anyone, does not mean they are not petty. There are a lot of people that just cannot take hard criticism. Maybe a teacher came at you funny one class, so for their teacher reviews, you tell them exactly how you feel. Then there are those who did not get a text back quick enough and they let the air out of your tires. Evil exists all over the world. The amount of pettiness you exhibit though does tell a lot about your character. My pettiness is not so much crazy, but more so like, “I’m going to make you ponder on what I just said to you for a good minute.” At the end of the day, people love to claim that they are actually better than they are. They will never let anyone see how naturally petty they are and it is sad because they are still another Petty Wap.
3. Quick example, let’s say you had a fight with your significant other and ya’ll go to bed angry.
You wake up and they are pressed against the wall like you got a deadly virus or something. You know they are awake, so you ask, “What’s wrong?” They hit you with the typical, “Nothing.” You ask again and again and again. Still nothing. This is when you think, “I’m tired, I could stay up and play this game or I could be Petty and go back to sleep because you dead don’t want to deal with this crap…” You go to sleep and wake up to the biggest attitude and your just staring at them like, “You Mad?” of course the first thing out your mouth is, “ I asked and you told me nothing, so I said whatever and went back to sleep, so why you mad?” Petty? Absolutely. Okay? Absolutely. Why? Because sometimes folks don’t respect your feelings until you give them the same exact pettiness to them.
4. Similarly, sometimes people don’t understand something is a problem until you SHOW them it’s a problem. (Usually by being petty.)
Now, I have three older sisters and one of their favorite hobbies is to test Vanessa’s patience. My sister would take my clothes and never give it back. I would simply just kept asking and reminding. It was a process. One day it dawned on me that she will never learn unless I teach her a life lesson. So, I went to her room took all her clothes out the drawers and put them on her bed. I proceeded to sort out my clothes and leave her clothes all over her room. If she would of just gave me my clothes she wouldn’t of had a mess to clean up once she got home. That was her fault. She learned the lesson through my petty nature. You’re welcome.
7. Some people just deserve it.
Sometimes people just love to bug you and test you. I don’t need to be tested, I’m in college and get enough of that. People will take your stuff and break it and act like it was an ‘accident.’ Okay, now I’m going to your house and breaking your aquarium, sorry Nemo. People will cut you off on the road. Okay, that’s fine, here comes my smoothie. Boys are one of the pettiest groups of people I have ever met and let me tell you, you wanna have a Petty war, we can have a petty war.
God made me this way and then he made my family Petty. Never be surprised by how far your true petty nature can take you.
