Leaving school for break is one of the most satisfying feelings in the world. Exams are over and you get an entire week to be with friends and not worry about any grades. But after a few days, you realize just how much you miss your school. Coming back after break is like coming home. For so many reasons, you are just so excited to be back.
1. Driving over the bridge at night and seeing the Bethlehem Star all lit up just fills you with a warm feeling.
Looking up at night and seeing the giant glowing star gives you such happiness because you know your school is right beneath it. Or, if you come from another direction, you see Sands Casino or even if you come down through the hill and see all the Greek houses. Wherever you're coming from, you can't wait to be home.
2. Climbing up the hundreds of stairs.
Sure, they're the worst when you use them every day. But after a week of being away, don't you miss them just a little? Especially after receiving so many compliments on your legs.
3. Going back to your dorm.
It might be small and messy, but it's home. Wherever you were for the past week, it wasn't the same. Your dorm room is where you exist now, and it's come to embody your college experience. The beds might not be the comfiest, but it's your bed.
4. The food.
Really? The food? Yes. Maybe you went to Europe and had the best pasta of your life over break. But can it really compare to the bonds you make with everyone who is suffering through Rathbone food? And it's not just the food, but rather the atmosphere of waiting in line for a few chicken fingers or yelling at the top of your lungs to be heard over the noise of Lower Cort at 12:00.
5. You can see your friends!
It's been a whole week for most people since they've seen their friends. Unless you were so lucky as to spend Spring Break with them, it's been way too long. The feeling of going back to your dorm and giving your roommate a big hug, or making plans to meet your friends at Johnny's on Sunday morning is one that cannot be matched. People like to say that college friends are forever. It must be true if it's only been a week and you already miss them like hell.
